Gulf Oil Spill Disaster.

The Gulf Oil Spill is the worst spill in the U.S. history, so who is truly responsible? Do we blame BP? Can we truly say that they are the only ones at fault here, I don't think so. Since the start of the industrial age, oil has become our greatest source of energy for everything, from running our engines to providing electricity and the materials required for creating plastics and other materials. The oil industry has held a seat of power greater than any other corporation in the world. It is clear that their power has been supported not only by the wide use of oil, but by governments themselves. Oil Companies have had many connections to government since their inception. So, I ask again, should oil companies be the only ones to blame for this spill and many other throughout the world? Well, if governments were not so economically involved with oil corporations we would not be here looking at this current spill. I think it is time that we look at our own government and ask how they have been unable to keep an eye on oil companies. How their own special interests in the oil industry has made them blind to the lack of protections and processes involved in keeping oil rigs and other systems safe. The news is currently reporting how the government is bashing BP for failing to avoid the current oil disaster, but rarely mention their own lack of oversight over the oil companies. I would like to know how many of our politicians have large investments in oil companies. I can assure you that somewhere, there is a politician who has pushed or helped the oil companies to have open doors to their needs. I think that as citizens, we have the right to review who is doing the right thing for our country, and who is working on their own personal interest. In the end, we can clearly not only blame the oil companies, but our governments as well.
