How to Change or Update Photograph On Aadhar Card

Most people require Photo identity proofs for any important procedure. You need to procure a new SIM card for your phone, a bank account or any other significant document; you are required to have if not 2, at least 1 photo identity card. The different photo identity cards that can serve this purpose include your driving licence, PAN card, Passport and Aadhar card.

How Can I Change Aadhaar Card Photo?

Out of these PAN card may also not work at all places as it doesn’t have your address. The major problem with these photo-ID cards is that you look completely different from your actual appearance. The joke, that everyone is not as beautiful/handsome as their Facebook profile pic and not as ugly as their Aadhar card, is actually true.

UIDAI, is the pet scheme of the Government of India, aimed with providing a unique ID card (and number) to each and every individual of the nation. Aadhar card is slowly and steadily becoming mandatory in almost all avenues as the required photo-ID and address proof.

There are many people who would love to have their Photograph changed on their Aadhar card. There are thankfully, methods available, both offline and online, to make changes in your details including name, age, gender, address etc.

There are 2 ways in which you can get your photograph changed on your Aadhar card.

1) Through a written application to UIDAI regional office

You need to fill an AADHAR DATA update correction form, which can be easily downloaded from the website. Along with it, you can send a formal request via an application to the regional UIDAI office along with the photo you want on the card (possibly with an attested copy of a photo-ID) and a copy of the Aadhar card, previously issued to you. The updated Aadhar card will be dispatched to you in a couple of weeks, with the photo of your choice!

2) Visit to the nearest Aadhar enrollment centre

Another method by which you can change the photograph on your aadhar card is by getting another one clicked at the nearest enrollment centre. Almost everywhere, camps for aadhar enrollment are being organised to provide every individual with their unique ID. You can get changes done (including photograph) at any of the enrollment camps or centre.

All you need to do is, pay a nominal amount of fees (Rs 50-100) for aadhar updation, fill the required form (mentioning your aadhar number correctly) and get the biometrics done again. Check the photograph with the official for your approval. The updated aadhar card will be available within a time frame of 15-30 days after applying for the same.

A majority of people are dissatisfied by their appearance on official identity proofs and wish to save face (literally and figuratively) when they have to show these documents. Through the efforts of the government, now, thankfully, you can change your look on one of the most prominently used photo ID card.
