Recently, Roger Goodell – NFL commissioner, announced that “This season, all-league and team personnel shall stand and show respect for the flag and the Anthem”. He also added that “It was unfortunate that on-field protests created a false perception among many that some of the NFL players were unpatriotic. This is not and was never the case.”

Some sports analysts welcomed the statement issued by the NFL commissioner and stated that the new rules will divert the attention from the National Anthem issue to the real gameplay. Whereas, others believe that NFL is only implementing such measures to increase the overall ratings.
