A suspected terrorist attack at Manchester Arena has killed at least 19 people and injured 50 others.

The blast occurred at around 10:30pm local time in the arena's foyer after a live concert by US pop singer Ariana Grande.

The cause of the blast remains unknown.

British PM Theresa May said the attack "is being treated by the police as an appalling terrorist attack."

What happened?

"The whole building shook. There was a blast and then a flash of fire afterwards," said Emma Johnson.

Parts of the arena started being covered in smog and everybody "went into absolute panic," said Anne-Marie.

There was utter chaos as concert-goers started to run towards exits.

At the blast site, witnesses saw dozens of bodies covered in blood, some dead while others seriously injured.

Details

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene soon after the blast.

PM May said: "We are working to establish the full details" of the Manchester blast.

The attack could be carried out by a suicide bomber, according to unconfirmed reports by two unnamed US officials.

A precautionary controlled explosion was conducted by police in the city's Cathedral Garden area. The item wasn't suspicious.
