Centre asks Delhi govt to look into DDCA

| The Union sports ministry had written a letter to Delhi government asking them to take appropriate action following allegations of irregularities in DDCA.
Sources said that the letter was sent after MP Kirti Azad raised the issue in Parliament.
The allegations of irregularities included illegal construction of corporate boxes, evasion of entertainment tax and opening the bar on dry days like Gandhi Jayanti.

| The Central Bureau of Investigation initiated a preliminary inquiry into the DDCA over evasion of entertainment tax.
The Delhi government also sent a notice to DDCA demanding ₹24.45 crore towards entertainment tax, interest and penalty, within the next 15 days.
DDCA treasurer Ravinder Manchanda said that they were contemplating on filing an appeal with excise commissioner on moving to High Court.

Kejriwal appoints panel to probe DDCA financial irregularities

| Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appointed a two member panel to look into alleged financial irregularities at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
The panel consists of secretaries of Urban Development and Sports departments.
There were complaints of DDCA making up fake members and diverging the funds.
Kejriwal took this step after some former cricketers met him to take action on the matter.

| Delhi government's panel's probe into irregularities of DDCA has suggested that BCCI should suspend DDCA.
The panel suggested that professional cricketers should be brought in to run Delhi cricket until BCCI finds a permanent solution.
The probe report also suggested that a law should be made to bring all sports associations under the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

AAP puts Jaitley in the middle of DDCA fraud

| AAP held a press conference to disclose the massive fraud DDCA was engaged in when it was directed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
AAP used the government-constituted committee's inquiry report to show that DDCA "siphoned off money from the cricket body through proxy firms."
The AAP said that Arun Jaitley must give in his resignation and accept his crime.

| The AAP calling Jaitley ''master of half-truths'' posed five specific questions to him regarding his tenure in the DDCA.
The questions relate to a private company owned by Jaitley's close associates, reconstruction of the Kotla stadium and his relationship with Hockey India Chief Narendra Batra.
AAP leader Ashutosh said that the Centre had given vague answers previously, hence they'd posed these specific ones.

| Cricketers Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Ishant Sharma have come out in support of Arun Jaitley, defending his integrity during his tenure as DDCA President in 2003-04.
Gautam Gambhir said it was "grossly inappropriate" to accuse Jaitley of such wrong doings.
Virender Sehwag and Ishant Sharma rubbished the AAP's claims and lauded Jaitley for "always being available for players in case of any difficulty".

DDCA: Delhi govt initiates inquiry, Jaitley to sue

| The row between the BJP and the AAP in the DDCA case intensified further today.
Arun Jaitley has declared that he would file civil defamation cases against Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha and Deepak Bajpai in the Delhi High court and criminal cases in the Patiala House courts.
The Delhi government will now set up an inquiry commission on the matter.

DDCA inquiry report has no mention of Jaitley

| The Delhi government's inquiry report over alleged irregularities in the DDCA has no mention of Jaitley or any wrong-doings during his tenure as Chief of the body.
The 237-page report by a three-member committee headed by Principal Secretary in Vigilance Department Chetan Sanghi has recommended that the DDCA be suspended by the BCCI.
The report will serve as a temporary vindication for Arun Jaitley.

BJP seeks a public apology from Kejriwal

| The BJP asked Delhi CM Kejriwal to publically apologize to Jaitley for the allegations he pinned on the Finance Minister.
BJP spokesperson M J Akbar said that the allegations were a 'conspiracy' by AAP and Congress to tarnish the party's senior leadership's reputation.
However, Kejriwal held on to his stand and tweeted asking if Jaitley was innocent why was he "afraid of facing enquiry?"

| AAP leaders claimed that they have "irrefutable" evidence that Jaitley tried to prevent the Delhi Police probe into DDCA corruption.
AAP leader Ashutosh produced a copy of a letter allegedly written by Jaitley in 2011 to the then Delhi police-commissioner asking him to stop a corruption case against DDCA officials.
AAP said Jaitley had used his Rajya Sabha post to interfere in an investigation.

Delhi HC dismisses Keriwal's plea in Jaitley's defamation case

| On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court dismissed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea to stay trial proceedings in the criminal defamation case lodged by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
In December 2015, Jaitley had filed civil and criminal defamation cases against Kejriwal and 5 members of AAP.
Mr. Jaitley claimed that AAP leaders' "malicious and defamatory" campaign was causing him irreversible damage.

Kejriwal fined Rs. 10,000 in defamation case

| Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was fined Rs.10,000 by the Delhi High Court for delay in filing a response to the defamation suit against him and cricketer Kirti Azad.
The suit, filed by the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) seeks Rs.2.5 crore each as damages from Kejriwal and Azad.
Azad was fined Rs.30,000 for his delay.
