Healing Back Pain

Tags: pain book amazon

Over a year and a half ago, I was running every other night and improving times and distances on weekly basis.

On one beautiful Sunday morning, I completed my run getting a personal best. I was stretching to cool down and bent over to touch my toes and heard a loud POP and felt pain like an electric such that prevented me from bending over. I didn't really think much of this and suffered through the next few weeks of getting sharp pains why i bent be over it or twisted awkwardly and had extremely sore shoulders when commuting to work via car.

I visited a physiotherapist who helped with the pain in my neck and shoulders but only for the day after the treatment before symptoms returned. I finally made an appointment with my GP and had tests and was told that it was a herniated disc and that I also had arthritis. I was devastated by this diagnosis.

At this point I was having issues with my job being a gardener and having to do physical work. I couldn't walk more than a few hundred metres before having to stop with severe pain in my back. It was really getting me down. This situation went back on for over 1 year before I found out about a book on The Tim Ferris podcast from Dr Sarno called * Healing Back Pain: The Mind- Body Connection. I followed the instruction in the book slowly at first and was sceptical about how a book could "cure" me but it was gradually helping me.

I am currently exercising again and walking 2-3 miles per day with no issues and have had no problems in work. I will admit to having a few minor twinges on a few days but from where I was to now, I would say that it's a large improvement.

Don't take my word for it, read the other reviews on Amazon and the Internet in general and please comment here about any positive or negative experiences if you have used the book as I would  really like hearing some real life experience other than my own.

This post contains an affiliate link for the Dr Sarno book, which means that if you click on the product link, I’ll receive a small commission from Amazon if you make a purchase. I do not do this for any item Amazon sell but simply the ones I can personally recommend like the book in this post.
