This is Madame Alfred Carriere who last year suffered the indignity of being uprooted from the back garden in order to make way for the bat cave. If that wasn’t bad enough, she was then transported to the plot in the back of my car, with her roots dangling out of the back window.
I moved her at the end of March, just as new leaves and buds were appearing and at a time when the temperature shot up and it seemed it would never rain again. Needless to say, she suffered and I thought it might be terminal but the buckets of water and seaweed feed paid off and she pulled through.
Here she is this year, resplendent in frothy blooms.
