AOC Unveils New Monitor With FreeSync 2 Support

Earlier this month the folks at AOC unveiled a new ultrawide gaming Monitor with support for NVIDIA’s G-Sync. No doubt this is great news for those with NVIDIA gaming rigs, but what if you’re more of an AMD gamer? Not to worry because AOC has since launched a new monitor with support for AMD’s Freesync 2 tech.

For those unfamiliar, AMD’s FreeSync tech is more or less the company’s answer to NVIDIA’s G-Sync. In this case, FreeSync 2 is the successor to the previous FreeSync technology and will improve on it by offering higher refresh rates, thus reducing stuttering or screen tearing while you are playing games. Ultimately it works similar to G-Sync on a basic level where the goal is to smoothen out gameplay, and you could almost liken them to a souped up and more advanced version of v-sync which is usually an option offered in games.

That being, the other specs of AOC’s Agon AG322QC4 include a 31.4-inch display with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. We’re sure that some would have preferred if it was 4K but we suppose the lower resolution does help keep costs down if that’s one of your concerns. It will feature a 144Hz refresh rate, a 4ms response time, and also a bunch of gaming presets for different types of games.

There is even a wired remote that lets users control the onscreen menus which is an improvement compared to fiddling on the buttons on the monitor. As for pricing, it is expected to go on sale this June in the UK for £529.
