Samsung has patented a new smartphone dubbed the Samsung Galaxy J2 Shine. The news has come to Android Updated courtesy of Letsgodigital.

Samsung Electronics filed a trademark on 14 January 2019 with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for the name Galaxy J2 Shine. The trademark application was published on January 17, 2019, and is categorized as Class 9, with the following description ‘mobile phones; smartphones’.

In August 2018, Samsung announced the Galaxy J2 Core, the first Android Go smartphone from the Korean manufacturer. The J2 Shine may be a variation on this. In any case, you can assume that it is a budget smartphone.

In November 2018, Samsung has also applied for a trademark in America for the names Samsung Galaxy J2 Dash and J2 Pure. In the US the names are sometimes adjusted, based on the provider that delivers the device.

Probably Samsung will provide its Galaxy J-series with new names in 2019, so there is more and more evidence of a developing Galaxy M-series, consisting of the M10, M20 and the M30. The MWC 2019 will take place next month. Samsung is organizing the Galaxy Unpacked 2019 event on 20 February in the run-up to this grand annual exhibition. Various high-end smartphones are expected here, such as the Galaxy S10 series as well as the first folding phone from Samsung.

As of now, there is no word on the official price and the release date of the device, but we can expect to receive further intel on the same in the coming days.
