Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 8 lineup of smartphones in the month of May. There were three smartphones in the lineup, namely Xiaomi Mi 8, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, and the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition. Out of the three, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition came out to be the most intriguing owing to the fact that it features a unique translucent rear. Up until now, the company has not launched the Mi 8 Explorer Edition in the market and Android lovers have eagerly been waiting for the sales to begin. Turns out that it is finally good news for the Xiaomi fans as the company will start selling the device come July 24.
The news comes courtesy of a recent post on Weibo which suggests the price and the sales commencement date.
As per the image, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition will carry a price tag of Yuan 3,699 which roughly converts to around $550.
As far as the specifications of the device go, the Mi 8 Explorer Edition features top-notch specifications and features. We get a 6.21-inch Super AMOLED display just like the one found on the standard Mi 8. The panel is an FHD+ unit giving out a resolution of 2248 x 1080 pixels and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, a screen-to-body ratio of 86.12 percent, DCI-P3 color gamut, 60000:1 contrast ratio, up to 600nits brightness, eye protection mode, always on display, and HDR support.
While the front end of the device is amazing, the real deal is the rear panel. The rear of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition features a translucent glass which gives a peek into the internals of the device. Looking at the Snapdragon logo from the outside gave us the chills, and you would be equally amazed.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which comes equipped with an AI engine. The processor is coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can further be expanded with the help of an external SD card.
There is a 3,000 mAh battery fueling the device which is capable of Quick Charge 4+ fast charging. Coming to the OS, the device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 on top of it.

As of now, there is no word as to whether or not the device will be released globally. That said, once it starts selling in China, we can just hope that it will be launched in the other markets soon.
