I was looking for a fun and intuitive way to learn Web Development, so I looked at some mobile apps with that goal in mind. I came across Codemurai. It’s a really nice interactive educational app, that is best suitable for beginners in Web, iOS, Android and Game Development.

The topic I chose was Web Development and the first chapter, of course, was HTML. Within, there were 7 lessons (Tags, Links, Images, Lists, Forms, Tables and the final exam). The following chapters have certain prerequisites; most require you to have HTML completed and you need enough Coins to unlock them, but some of them also require certain other chapters to be completed, so you’re already familiar with the basics before you start with advanced topics.

Because I’m a visual learner, it really appealed to me that it offered a colorful learning environment with many pictures and explanations. I also liked the fact that there were tests after every lesson.

The only thing that bothered me, was that I spent lots of time watching ads to get free coins, just to be able to continue taking lessons. Yeah, you need to “pay” 25 coins for every single lesson. Sure you’re also able to earn some coins by returning to the app daily, but I’m not the kind of person who will wait that long to continue learning about something that I find interesting. There’s also an option to pay 3,89€ – 34,99€ to get coins, but sadly I’m not able to pay that much for an app, even though it would probably be worth it.

If you’re the kind of person that requires visual cues for optimal learning experience and you’re willing to pay, wait or watch ads, to progress your knowledge of programming or web development, this is the perfect app for you.
