Donations From Scotties Help Felines Find Families

I am to receive a Scotties gift pack in exchange for sharing this information. Please note that, as always, any personal opinions reflected in this post are my own and have not been influenced by the sponsor in any way.

Did you know that June is Adopt-A-Cat Month? If you read Mom Knows It All regularly, or even semi-regularly, you know that I am a cat lover. I have had a cat for almost my entire life and I don’t imagine myself ever not having one. I have known what an animal shelter is for a long time. After all, we have one not too far from my house and we adopted a kitten from it when I was a young child. I was into my twenties before I learned how important shelters are. Shelters are the only home some animals have known, and those homes are overcrowded. They aren’t just for certain age cats or mixed breed cats. You can find cats and kittens of all ages at a shelter, as well as cats and kittens of all breeds including purebreds. No animal asks to live in a shelter. They dream of finding a furr-ever home. Scotties is a company that steps up each year and tries to help some of those animals find homes.

2017 is the fourth year in a row that Scotties® Facial Tissues by Royale® partnered with three reputable animal rescue organizations on the East Coast in an effort to help find their feline residents find their forever families. Each of the three organizations – Animal Protective Foundation in New York, The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Massachusetts and The Humane Society of Tampa Bay in Florida – received $5,000 to go towards the re-homing of cats.

Thanks to a generous donation from Scotties, all fees associated with adopting select felines were waived at participating locations during the week-long adoption event that took place during the first week of June. You know Scotties. They are one of the top facial tissue manufactuers in the US. Because of their donations, all adoptable cats and kittens rehomed during the event were spayed / neutered, microchipped, screened for temperament, and  up to date on all shots and vaccinations.

This initiative was first started by Scotties in 2014. In the past four years, Scotties has found homes for more than 700 cats and kittens. Scotties’ goal for this year was to rehome approximately 100 – 150 cats nationally in 2017.

“Here at Scotties, we are delighted to see this program in its fourth year,” said John Robertson, Scotties Marketing Director, “We take great pride in helping hundreds of cats find the loving forever homes they so desperately need.

If you have been considering getting a cat, please be sure to visit your local animal shelter. You’ll be giving someone a second chance at life and the opportunity to share a bond with a beautiful creature.
