You all should be familiar by now with the fact of us homeschooling Sophia as I have mentioned it multiple times in past posts. One thing with homeschooling is you do need to keep up with supplies as well as curriculum. Of course, I find that getting the curriculum can be less challenging than finding the actual supplies; or at least good quality supplies. For instance, Pencil sharpeners! I bought one of the old school pencil sharpeners that you typically see in the classroom when we had first started homeschooling a few years back, but it was a pain to put up somewhere in Sophia`s room and can be messy to empty. We also had gotten an electric battery operated sharpener to keep by my computer desk. While that one is less messy than the original, it doesn't always sharpen quite right. By that I mean it will sharpen, but then the tips keep falling out the pencil - frustrating! Thankfully Classroom Friendly Supplies sent me one of their pencil sharpeners to check out and I think I have found a winner, seriously!

As I said, I believe I definitely found a winner with this sharpener! When I first received it I have to admit I loved the stylish retro look it has to it, but was also worried it may be confusing or complicated to use because of it's some what unique design - definitely not the case at all.

 

You see the black knobs where you put the pencil in to be sharpened? Press them together, insert your pencil pully, then release. They hold your pencil in place for you so you don't have to! So I did that, and held the sharpener and sharpened. It did a PERFECT sharpen and was quiet. Plus, the tips of the pencil didn't fall out either! Not to mention to empty the pencil shreds you simply slide out the box, which is clear so it's easily noticeable of when it's time to be cleaned, and it's mess free as well! It simply slides out and you dump. No twisting and turning or dark shading where you're guessing if it's full or not.

 

While I find this maintains the old-school class and style, it definitely functions a lot better. It's quiet so it won't disrupt the classroom or anyone for that matter. It's simple to use and it's mess free. They're also reasonably priced; especially compared to other sharpeners that don't offer even half the quality of these! I'm seriously on a hunt to sharpen pencils around the house now just to keep fooling with this piece because I'm so impressed with it! Obviously, I definitely recommend this sharpener for both home and the classroom. If anything, the teacher would definitely appreciate this piece as a gift!
