If Your Baby Sleeps Through This Blog Isn’t For You

When was the last time you had a full night’s sleep? Uninterrupted? Over 7 hours – straight through? Feels like a lifetime ago?

Whilst urbanmummy.co.uk would love to think as a direct result of this very blog we will be able to magically transform your little one into one that sleeps all night – the grim reality is that that is just not going to happen.

Don’t stop reading!

What we can offer are some practical solutions to help you cope on three Hours Sleep a night!

  • Invest in a freezer, bulk buy food, bulk meal prep and freeze. This means you CAN sleep when the baby sleeps.
  • Use a slow cooker for tonight’s dinner. This mean you CAN sleep when the baby sleeps.
  • Get some black out curtains (and for a quick fix order www.lightsoutblinds.com – quick, easy and transportable – great for you and baby).
  • Get help! That means, your mum, a sister, a friend, your other half. Ask them to look after your little one for a morning/afternoon/day so you can sleep!

  • Make a plan with your partner that allows you to have a period of unbroken sleep that could mean a 6pm bedtime for you and getting up for the dream feed (you will wake up anyway).
  • When you’re ready get a night away or let your little one stay at a grandparent’s house – don’t feel guilty – know that actually, a fully rested mummy means your cup of patience and loveliness will once again runneth over!
  • What do you hate doing? Ironing? Cleaning bathrooms? Dusting? All of it? If you can, get a cleaner and send the ironing out! It means you won’t be ‘doing jobs’ when really you need to sleep. You’ll feel less irritable. You’ll have more time with your little one and still have time for your partner. It’s not about ‘should’, rather it’s about coping broken sleep. It could be a short-term solution (although hard to go back to doing it all yourself).
  • A great mattress and luxury bedding for your own bed is essential. If you only have three hours sleep a night you want that to be the best it can be right?

Our tenuous link for this post is that March is National Bed Month – we’re championing quality over quantity at this time!

P.S. This urbanmummy took advantage of her childfree time and once fell asleep for an hour in #Asda carpark before going to do her shopping!
