Positive Steps Into Social Mobility - Who Do You Think You Are, Camille asks

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?

Camille asks you

The dates of the previous year has drifted away from you. You stand in a new year with new journeys to experience. So, who do you think you are now that the new year is well under way?

2. The mildly BAD tempered know it all?

3. The horrendously UGLY duckling meet and greeter?

Or a crazy mixture of the three?

………………………

How brutally honest are you with yourself when thinking about who you are? Are you a doormat to yourself, or a highly critical highly criticising creature, or do you have the characteristics of an unhinged dragon?

Do you purposely ruffle your own feathers in order to chastise yourself? Do you tickle the nose of others as an irritant where people avoid you? Or, does your tickle of noses deliver a warm, hearty chuckle drawing people towards you? How long does it take you to sense that things are slowly falling apart in your life, then for you to do something about it in a productive way?

With that said, continue to read this and heed the advice given, because what follows is not just your review about you, but also a solid plan if you want the business of YOU to thrive and actually benefit from mayhem.

Or you can continue on with business as usual and every spare moment that you have, you search for online freebies that you have already started to collect and place in the scrapbook of ‘Collective bargains to help you get through life and reap its rewards’, Author [place your name here]. Added to the time, effort and work that you have invested into this scrapbook of yours, when do you get the Opportunities to use what you have collected. What do I hear you say, you have not used any opportunities yet to put into practice your collection of information! So then, what is your backup plan? Your Plan B (or any other letter of the alphabet for that matter) for not being able to find the time to do the actual experiencing and put your collection of information to use? What was the point in collecting the information if you are not going to use it? How do you hope to persuade others if you have not tried and tested your information? What is this person that you have become?

………………………

Knowing that the last year kicked you up the bottom and made you want to run away and become a hermit on a mountain top, I am here to tell you that you are not alone. The last year was a hard year… for many. It encompassed:

a. Keyboard foolishness (read as dickheads) was aplenty

b. Attention span restlessness was rife

c. Angst for the future was in the top 10 freeze invest index

d. Competition was rampant like a rabid program from Matrix Reloaded

Plus more. So much more.

This made the last year morph into a chronic, contagiously diseased, psychotic fairy godmother that showed up at critical moments in your life. As helpful as fairy godmothers are supposed to be, this one had other ideas about how you were going to journey throughout the year.

For others, the last year was more of an interaction with Glenda Good Witch of the North and less psychotic. It made them question their strategies (and sanity) at least once a week and kept them on their toes as they navigated through a mansion of Social media, karma, invitations and blog warriors (new and established). Quite a bit of labour but it paid off BIG TIME and made them pay attention to life cues (professional and social) and they adjusted accordingly. Because honestly that was what the last year was about:

1. Skrimp here. Splash out there.

2. Abandon this. Hold on to that.

3. Stop this. Start that.

4. Attend this. Do not schedule that.

5. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

In other words the last year was wholly about YOUR recalibration. Your recalibration about:

1. How you model yourself to yourself (recognising and acknowledging your inner qualities, i.e., your content, not solely focusing on your appearance to appear as everyone else in public).

2. What your value is (looking at ways that you proposition yourself to others through your social and professional skills).

3. Which development and training sessions/workshops/programs have a structure that best suits you (location, content, time and money) and helps you to move ahead towards opportunities.

4. When you make decisions (are you missing out on opportunities, is the timing frequently misaligned with what is going on in your life, for example, distractions from others).

5. Why you need to look more closely at Brand You (because Brand You is vital to everything).

6. Where does your equity lay in social circles? Professional circles? (do you have the decision-making skill sets to being impartial, reasonable, fair?)

Plus everything in between.

Understand that those who did not recalibrate, often cried ‘foul’ on society, or were merely afraid to make the move and stubbornly stuck to their old ways (much like Gollum in Lord of the Rings). This is how the last year finished for you...

- Unhappy.

- Drab.

- Unfavourably.

- Deficient in a specific resource.

- Needy.

- Having to do without something or someone that could have helped with your progression.

- Mismatching methods and switching between several ‘gurus’, ‘experts’, ‘specialists’.

- A lack of clarity and being muddled as to what to do in certain situations.

If you are one of those who coped by switching every three days, please accept my deepest sympathy for the terrible demise of your goodwill and equity in the past year.

I am definitely not judging you, or laughing at you. Definitely NOT. I and countless others have been at that place where you are. We had definitely stumbled across that large floor of marbles called calamity. Highly embarrassing. Not funny for one moment. Experience counts. Mistakes count and become beneficial along your journey in the long run. It is how you recover that matters. Do you stay knocked down, or, get up and learn how to live and command the following days?

Using Social Mobility as a means of getting ahead in life can be a minefield, fraught with hits and misses if you are not aware, empowered or just simply afraid to be in the company of complete strangers. Particularly if you are shy, an introvert or have autism. Or a combination of the three.

SO, the question remains. Who do you think you are?

What amuse-bouche or tidbit had you found pleasing to help you last year with your social mobility? Do you wish to share?
