Spice Route Food Festival @ Aloft CBP

Aloft Cessna Business Park’s restaurant Nook brings to you flavours from different countries across the globe and this June they are hosting the Spice Route Food Festival showcasing the journey of flavours from Yemen to Gujarat. The festival is ongoing from 12th -23rd June 2017.

The Food festival features a combination of what the spice route is known for from their Haleem to sumptuous kebabs, tikkas to very interesting desserts and unique mango based cocktails.

After the customary photography sessions, we started with our order of drinks from their Mango based cocktail menu. Due to the large group, we got to taste all the cocktails from their seasonal Mango beverages menu. While I sipped on my Black Russian which I thoroughly enjoyed, I did have a soft corner for the drink aptly named Nightlife which was a perfect combination of whisky, mango puree and lime.

We started our meal with Iftar platter which consisted of Keema Samosa, Bohri Chicken Cutlet, Baida Roti, Malai Khus Kebab, Kukud Kabragha Tikka to name a few. All the items on the platter were excellent and it vanished within seconds of being served. As usual the presentation was top notch!

Not to forget the flavourful Mutton Haleem and surprisingly Veg Haleem too. I enjoyed the Mutton Haleem and also tried a bit of the Paneer Burji.

The salad counter looked very inviting and so did the continental starters.

The main course was also a large spread including gravies such as Bohra Murgh Badami Korma, Gosht Darbari, Fish Nirdrish, Murgh Reshmi Biryani, Khatta Mitha Dal and Kefti Dal.  There were as usual too many dishes on the menu hence I tried small portions of all the dishes to taste them all. I loved the mild flavours from the Biryani as well as the Fish Nirdrish.

However the showstopper was their Irani Ran which was served in a large plate in tradition with the usual way the food is supposed to be eaten. The meat was soft and just melted in the mouth. The gravy provided along with the dish was delicious and went perfectly with the raan.

By now, I know their desserts during these food festivals are not to be missed even though there is almost no room to feast on these desserts.

If you have a sweet tooth then their Mahalavia, Pomegranate Tart, Mixed Fruit Baba Au Khum are not to be missed.

The Spice Route Food Festival is on from 12th -23rd June 2017 for lunch and dinner (excluding lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday) and priced at Rs.1099/-.
