Hello foodies,

As you probably know, I already admitted to being a big Chocoholic.

But aside from that, I must admit that I am also a Peanut Butter-holic. If there is even such a thing. If it isn’t… oh well, I just invented it.

I am that kind of girl that sneaks to the fridge late at night and gobbles up a spoonful of peanut butter.

Well, what can I do? After all, and in my defense, I’ve been a pastry chef. So I could say that it’s a habit I’ve picked up from my job. Who could blame me, right?

But I know (and hope) that most of you are like me, so today I made a dessert for us, The Choco-Peanut-Butter-holics.

I made a delicious chocolate peanut butter mousse that’s also vegan and don’t worry. Even though it looks like a guilty pleasure you’ll be surprised to see that it’s actually healthy.

More Desserts:
  • Pumpkin Spice Pancakes
  • Peanut Butter Chocolate Muffins
  • Banana Oatmeal Pancakes
  • Raspberry Chocolate Brownies

Now, I found that a lot of foodies have many questions about chocolate mousse and I would like to address them first. Keep in mind that my answers are based on my recipe and I can’t say much about others.

So here it goes…

Is chocolate mousse healthy?

It all depends on the ingredients you use and how much you eat.
So it is healthy if you make it with dark chocolate and natural peanut butter (like I did today). You also need to make sure that none of the ingredients have sugar in them.

Another thing to watch out for is how much you’re having. I know it’s delicious and it’s hard to stay away from it, but keep in mind that too much of anything can be bad for us.

So don’t gobble up 20 cups of Chocolate Peanut Butter mousse and expect to have a wasp waist.

If you buy it from the store, then make sure you read the label as a lot of them may contain sugar or other unhealthy ingredients.

Is chocolate mousse vegetarian or vegan?

Again, it all depends on the ingredients you use. I made this chocolate mousse recipe with vegetarian/vegan ingredients so this one it is (I even used coconut milk).

Other recipes may include normal milk, gelatine, or double cream which are certainly not vegan/vegetarian.

Again, if you buy it from the store, read the label as they may also contain traces of non-vegetarian ingredients.

Moving on to another question that I often see among foodies.

Is chocolate mousse easy to make?

This easy chocolate mousse recipe has only 6 ingredients. It takes just 15 minutes to prep and then you need to leave it in the fridge between 4 and 12 hours.

So if the waiting time doesn’t bother you, 15 minutes is certainly nothing.

Another question that I want to answer really quick is…

Which is the best chocolate mousse recipe?

Well, mine of course and certainly not those of newbies like Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay.

Now joke aside, it’s all up to you and your tastes. Try them all (not at the same time!) and see which chocolate mousse you like best (I really hope it’s mine).

Finally, I am going to answer the last question with a video and a recipe.

I hope you like this easy mousse recipe and I can’t wait to hear your opinion in the comments.

How To Make Chocolate Mousse With Peanut Butter?

Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Recipe

An easy and vegan chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse recipe that is also super delish.

  • 7 oz/ 200g Dark chocolate chips ((70% cocoa))
  • 2 cups Coconut milk ((or any non-dairy milk))
  • 1 cup (about 10) Medjool dates (pitted)
  • 1/4 cup Peanut butter
  • 1/2 Tbsp Vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp Roasted Chopped Peanuts ((optional ingredient))
  1. Roughly chop the chocolate into small chunks.

  2. Melt in the microwave or using a double boiler.

  3. In a high-speed blender, add dates, vanilla, and milk. Blend on high until smooth.

  4. Add in the melted chocolate, peanut butter and blend again until well combined. The consistency will be very runny first, but it will set and get denser once you let it chill in the fridge

  5. Pour it into jars, cover and refrigerate overnight.

  6. Top with chopped peanuts and Enjoy!

TIPS:

  • If you made this exact recipe you will get a very smooth and dense chocolate peanut butter mousse. However, if you like it less dense, just add more milk (about 1/4 of a cup). Experiment with it to get the consistency you like.
  • You can use any kind of milk, dairy or non-dairy. I made it with coconut milk (my favorite) and it came our super delish. But it will be just as good if you go for the normal one.
  • You can swap the peanut butter with any nut butter, like cashew or almonds.
  • Serve it as a chocolate spread on toast, biscuits, apple or pear slices, and even with bananas.
