Food From North Italy with Love @Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon

Italian food is one of the most loved foreign cuisines in India with thousands of big & small restaurants serving Italian food. In such a scenario, Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon, boasting of being a North Italian (more specifically from Emilia-Romagna region in Italy) speciality restaurant is a novelty. To bring ideas about Emilia-Romagna region’s food in perspective think about Bolognese Sauce which originated in Bologna, Prosciutto di ParmaBalsamic Vinegar, Parmigiano-Reggiano (Parmesan cheese, the native of Parma), and a huge variety of hand-made, stuffed pasta like Lasagna, Tortellini and Ravioli, Cannelloni and more.

LOCATION:

Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon is the second branch which opened its gate for the north Italian food lovers after a wait of almost four years.  It is located in DLF Two Horizon Centre right on the Golf Course Road. The restaurant is easily accessible from M.G. Road area, New Gurgaon sectors and of course the residential societies and offices located on Golf Course road.

AMBIENCE:

“Let one flag, one hope gather us all.” – Salute to the Italian Flag.

By far, having visited numerous restaurants pan India & abroad, an ambience experience is often thought to be completed by its comfy seating and interiors. But at Artusi Ristorante, the atmospherics are taken care of in the truest sense. As one enters the restaurant, the aroma of fresh flowers that find their place on each of the tables as well cannot go unnoticed. One cannot help but simply compare Artusi in contrast to other Indian restaurants more so of fine dine sophistication. Simply because it is Different!

The chandeliers are exquisite; plus the fireplace with a giant family sized dining table are the limelight stealers. – at Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon

The place is designed and maintained for delivering a dining experience very close to what one would have while sitting in a restaurant in  North Italy. The interiors aren’t overly dramatic but have a thoughtfulness put into the execution of this comfortable, tranquil and luxury fine dining Italian restaurant in Gurgaon.

There is a bar also with a variety of wines and other alcoholic drinks. – at Artusi Ristorante

Very soon the outdoor seating area is also making its way.

SERVICE:

Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon is a venture that was established for the passion of presenting food from the owner, Oscar Balcon’s place of origin that’s Emilia-Romagna (Northeastern Italy).

As in the words of Oscar, a passionate foodie himself, “We have in our menu only those dishes that represent North-Eastern Italy and the ones that have been passed from one generation to another.”

So for dishing out authentic recipes each time Artusi also has chefs coming from the same part of Italy. The serving staff too has good knowledge of each of the dishes on the menu and can suggest in case one is in dilemma of what to order or any other food-related query.

The staff is extremely courteous and makes one feel comfortable. However, the aim of Artusi restaurant to serve authentic Emilia-Romagna food constraints them to tweak the dishes as per Indian palate. Nevertheless, there is add-on seasoning read (chilli flakes, black pepper etc.) that are made available over the table on request.

FOOD at Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon:

Like any typical fine dining restaurant and quite unlike other Indo-Italian restaurants in town which have a focus dish like Pizzas or range of Pasta, at Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon, one can have a full course authentic north Italian meal. So starting with salads, soups to finger licking desserts they have it all. Each food dish is served with absolute artistry so that one can experience the food not just through its taste but also by its view and aroma. The presentation will invariably remind one of Masterchef – the popular cooking reality show of India and across the globe.

At Artusi Ristorante the quality & tastes are considered sacrosanct. So many of the key ingredients are actually imported from Italy and some from other parts of the world.

Their speciality being different kinds of pasta made in-house from scratch.. and yes they don’t have any variety of Pizza on the menu! The reason for this being that since Artusi is a restaurant serving Italian food from the Northeastern region and in that part of Italy, Pizza is not a native dish. Pizza is rather a southern Italy dish while north Italy, in general, is the home ground for varied kinds of pasta.

Some of the must-try dishes at this Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon are:

Gazpacho Italiano Soup Shot:

Well, the chilled tomato soup shot can befittingly be classified as an amuse-bouche cause it is an absolute palate refresher. – at Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon  Photo Copyright: www.TheOtherBrainInc.com

In a summery weather, all one wants is to have a refreshing something to drink. At Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon, Gazpacho Italiano Soup Shot is served as one of the amuse-bouche to begin the gourmet journey into the kitchens of North-eastern ItalyQuite contrasting to the regular tomato soups, the chilled Gazpacho Italiano Soup Shot at Artusi has a subtle taste of tomato which isn’t overpowering and herbs as the base and raw vegetable like finely chopped onions, green bell pepper, cucumber added.

Insalta Caprese:

Now, this dish isn’t actually from North Italy (the name itself means salad from Capri – an island near Naples) but which Italian lover can keep salads on the menu and not include Caprese in it! Caprese is a quick salad with two-three primary ingredients namely Tomatoes, Mozzarella di Bufala and Olive Oil as a simple dressing. At Artusi Ristorante Gurgaon, this is served with a little salt & black pepper seasoning with basil leaves on top and Pesto & Balsamic Vinegar on the sides.

Risotto Zafferano:

At Artusi Ristorante Gurgaon, generally the saffron risotto is served with scallops but on a polite request, the scallops can be customized to other seafood preference like shrimps.

Risotto is one of the classic first course dishes of Italy. Risotto Zafferano simply translates to Saffron Risotto. Italy is one of the top producers of saffron in the world and so the saffron risotto finds its place deep down the history of Italian kitchens. At Artusi Ristorante this risotto is prepared with Carnaroli rice variety which is considered one of the best kinds of rice for making risotto. The risotto is mildly seasoned to bring forth the subtle flavour of Italian Saffron. Portion size is enough for two people considering the other courses of the meal will follow.

Spaghetti Carbonara:

As Federico Fellini once said, “Life is a combination of magic & pasta.” – at Artusi Ristorante Gurgaon  Photo Copyright: www.TheOtherBrainInc.com

So it is with a classic Spaghetti made in Carbonara style teamed with slices of bacon, and cheese. This carbonara at Artusi Ristorante is the finest one in the whole Gurgaon. The perfectly smoked bacon and not a single bite with an individual taste of egg coming to make it truly the BEST &  a must try. To add to it the spaghetti is also in-house made.

Triangoli Alle Verdure Cotte:

For people liking their food to be a little spicer then this is their kind of pasta. Triangoli is a slightly large form of pasta pockets in triangle shape which here at Artusi Ristorante Gurgaon is made healthier by infusing spinach puree in the pasta base. It is filled with roasted vegetables and set in tomato sauce, pepperoncino slices on top. Roasted eggplant flavour (sans the seeds) coming through so perfectly makes the dish a stand out from the rest.

Salmone:

At Artusi, as a second course, one can go ahead with Salmone. It is a medium sized Salmon fillet pan seared in a crust of aromatic herb and served with sauteed zucchini and squashed potatoes to go with it. Again the flavours are simple and subtle but since the freshness of fish and technique is focussed so there is absolutely no trace of lingering fishy odour or in taste whatsoever.

Desserts:

Whatever one is eating in the main course, they should keep space for desserts while dining at this North Italian speciality restaurant. Each of desserts is a platter of artful expression in terms of the visual and flavour.

Panna Cotta:

The Panna Cotta prepared with sweet figs and almonds is kind of an unofficial signature dish of Artusi. Truly deserving every bit of the fame it has garnered, this dessert at Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon, is delicate, the use of fig and toasted almond flakes is phenomenal.

Cioccolato Nero E Scorza Di Arancia:

For dark chocolate lovers, this dessert is sure to take one to the seventh heaven while digging in this Chocolate Mousse. The romantic flavour of dark chocolate paired with the sweet-tangy flavour of caramelized orange peels further is superb. For adding a little crunch to this dessert platter, are tiny sweet butterflies biscuits.

Undoubtedly Artusi Ristorante, Gurgaon is the best restaurant in the city for enjoying an authentic North Italian cuisine in a fine-dining setup. The ingredients used for making each of the dishes at Artusi Ristorante are extremely fresh which brings out the clarity in the flavours. Desserts here are not to be missed.
