THE SCANDAL FROM ITS INGREDIENTS CLAIMS

  The company's most famous quote:  Inspired by the clouds, smartwater is a vapor-distilled water with electrolytes added for taste. Basically, every water bottle is made from a vapor-distilled technique. They are simply phrasing a basic sentence into a more prettier version. Then, they add electrolytes for better taste. Fair enough, but you can get a cheaper alternative from other well known brands like Gatorade. Here a comparison of electrolytes between the two brands. The problem with smartwater is that it's claiming that electrolytes will enhance the flavor, when in my personal opinion the water tasted too similarly to tap water:

Gatorade Ingredients claims: water, sucrose (table sugar), dextrose, citric acid, natural flavor, sodium chloride (table salt), sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, and flavoring/coloring ingredients; some Gatorade flavor variations use brominated vegetable oil as a stabilizer.

Smartwater ingredients claims:  VAPOR DISTILLED WATER, CALCIUM CHLORIDE AND MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE AND POTASSIUM BICARBONATE (ELECTROLYTE SOURCES*) *ELECTROLYTES ADDED FOR TASTE

 They claimed , "Glaceau products are specially formulated to help people on the go feel better, perform better and live healthier lives through better hydration

Here's the amount of electrolytes in  smartwater (there's really not a lot):

Ca= 4 mg/l
Mg=1.8 mg/L
K=5,1 mg/L
Cl=11 mg/L
HCO3=11 mg/L

 THE AMOUNT NEEDED FOR AN AVERAGE PERSON

Recommended intake in milligrams (mg)
Sodium=1,500

Potassium=4,700
Calcium=1,000
Magnesium=
320 for men, 420 for women
Chloride=2,300

CONCLUSION

Tap water contains twice the amount of electrolytes.Plus, it's free! So don't be brainwashed by their pretty title of becoming smart by drinking their water.
