Product Review Series – Chattanooga Butter Company (Roasted Garlic)

One could argue that we as human beings are prone to settle. And one of the largest areas where we’ve settled the most is our food. Without delving into how we got here and what that means, the plain and simple truth is our palettes have become dulled by the myriad of additives and pseudo-ingredients in much of our daily bread…and Butter.

Which brings us to this post. The only thing that’s better than delicious is simply delicious. And butter — real butter — is simply delicious. Because it’s simple. And delicious. Even in its most basic form when licked from the end of a knife. Butter, as we’ve come to know it today, is not worthy of the name. Comprised mostly of varying vegetable oils and water, it’s sheer blasphemy to call this stuff butter. Hence the name “margarine”, given to us by its creator, French chemist Hippolyte Mège-Mouriès, in 1869. Yes. A chemist.

Enter Chattanooga Butter Company. After coming across one of the company’s social media posts, we reached out to see if we could receive some samples for review to help out our rather skinny blog portfolio. A “locals helping locals” kind of thing. Chattanooga Butter agreed and we received The Sampler along with one of their seasonal offerings. Because this totaled seven products, and because there’s at least a small part of us that believes the warnings of the Surgeon General, we thought it best to spread the review out into a series. So let’s kick it off with Roasted Garlic Butter.

First things first. There’s not one bit of artificialness in Chattanooga Butter’s products. “All-natural, fresh, real food…always.” Each artisan butter begins with real cream. And every ingredient that follows only serves to edify their products’ authenticity. For more information, and to read more of their story, visit the Chattanooga Butter website.

Garlic and butter are two of the most celebrated flavor pairings — EVAH! Now roast the garlic and you’ve gone to the next level of flavor. You think you’ve had that before? No. Not unless you’ve had it in a jar from Chattanooga Butter Company. But here’s what we discovered and hadn’t thought about at first. This isn’t just a single-use spread that turns your lonely piece of bread into spaghetti’s best friend.  No, ladies and gentlemen. This is the newest weapon in your cooking arsenal.

Suffice it to say that the next time your recipe calls for garlic and butter, you can now you have it in one package. Making a grilled sandwich? Throw some Chattanooga Butter Company Roasted Garlic Butter in the frying pan first. And then again when you flip it over. Don’t be shy. (For added flavor, when you plate it, sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top. Just sayin’.) The next time you have any kind of pasta at home, put a nice dollop of the butter on top before you sauce. Or don’t sauce and enjoy it in all its glory. And vegetables sautéed in this butter are simply the bomb. The truth is, we are now seeking out ways that we can incorporate this little piece of heaven into our cooking whenever possible.

Many local restaurants, bakeries, and retail outlets are featuring products from Chattanooga Butter. And after sampling this first product it’s easy to see why. Have you or anyone you know tried any of their products? We’d love to have you leave a comment below.
