Created by New York bartender Sam Ross in 2005. Penicillin cocktail is a smoky, spicy mix of Scotch, honey and Ginger. Many consider the drink a modern classic. I love a spicy ginger cocktail, and so the Penicillin is one of my favourites.
INGREDIENTS:
• 45 ml Johnnie Walker Black Label
• 15 ml ginger liqueur
• 22ml 1:1 honey syrup
• 22 ml lemon juice
• 2 dashes aromatic bitters
METHOD:
1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients.
2. Shake hard to mix the ingredients.
3. Strain and serve the mixture in a tumbler with fresh ice. You can use several cubes, or a single large one – or even an ice ball.
4. Add a slice of fresh ginger to garnish.
