Simple Hangover Cures

Gone out last night, got completely off your trolley and woken up this morning feeling headachy, nauseous, to the point of vomiting? What you’ve got a mate is a case of Hangoveritis. A Hangover can occur in anyone after a single episode of heavy alcohol use. Symptoms include a headache, nausea, vomiting, sweating, fatigue, shakiness, sensitivity to light and irritability.

After a hard night on the booze, you would do or pay just about anything to ease a headache, nausea, and the feeling as though you’re as dry as the Great Sandy Desert.

With the silly season in full swing, so are the parties and, along with that, the risk of having a little too much “Christmas cheer”. These pantry essentials will get you back on your feet in no time.

  • Hydrate as much as you can, as fast as you can
  • A caffeine brew
  • Vitamins
  • A big breakfast
  1.  Bananas

Bananas are the superfood of all superfoods. They’re kind to the stomach and full of potassium, which is great if you’re staring down at last night’s drinks. Why not jazz it up with some pancakes to help soak up all the nastiness.

  1.  Water with citrus

Going straight for a can of Coke or a sports drink seems like the obvious choice for a hangover. But if you keep some mineral water and citrus fruits on-hand, they’ll be just as satisfying, and put you back on track way quicker than any sugary soft drink.

  1.  Honey

Now, this is your sugar fix. Okay, so it’s not chocolate, but it contains fructose which has the ability to burn away alcohol faster. Which means you’ll be on the road to recovery quicker and will hopefully deter you from scoffing down a tub of ice cream.

  1.  Pasta

There’s no harm in chowing down on some white pasta after a big night out, but it’s best to pair it with some veggies and protein to provide extra nutritional benefits. A great idea for a next day carb hit? Black bean pasta. It’s full of nutritional ingredients and lower in calories than your typical white pasta.
