  • Delusions and hallucinations
  • Behavioral changes
  • Abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

These signs or symptoms should not be ignored, it can lead to even coma. Once detected, immediately start treatment for heat stroke, before its too late.

Here are the best home remedies that you can use to treat heat stroke.

Onion Juice 

First of all place Onion juice and honey in a separate bowl. As one gets heat stroke, apply onion juice behind the ears, under the feet, and on your chest. Leave it on. Apply this once only.

After the heat stroke, symptoms are reduced or minimized, drink a tsp of onion juice mixed with a tsp of honey. Drink this twice a day for a few days.

Buttermilk 

Things you need: 2 tbsp of yogurt, a glass of water, salt as per taste and roasted cumin powder.

How to make: Blend the water and yogurt with salt, just whisk it for 3 to 4 times and sprinkle roasted cumin powder. Drink this chilled twice a day. This refreshing drink hydrates and cools down the body.

Essential Oils 

Things you need: 1 tsp of peppermint oil, 1/2 tsp of lavender oil and 2 tbsp of almond oil.

Mix both the essential oils with almond oil and gently massage on the back of the neck, on your soles, and inside your wrists. Apply this once only. Lavender oil is soothing and Peppermint oil helps to bring a cooling effect on the body, it also helps to lower the body temperature.

Coriander Water

Extract coriander juice by blending the leaves with some water and add some sugar and mix well. Keep this mixture in a refrigerator to let it cool. Drink this after it gets cooled. Drink this juice (Glass) during the heat stroke. Coriander is cooling for the body. It removes the excess heat.

Cold Water Bath

Have a cold water bath for at least 15 minutes. The coolness of the water helps to lower down the entire body temperature, which has shot up due to heat stroke. This should be done only once before you take a person for medical.

Note: Do not use ice in water for bath, this can make the situation worse.

Tamarind Juice

Things you need: A glass of water, some tamarind pieces and a 1 tbsp of honey.

How to take: Boil the tamarind (It cool down the body while supplying essential nutrients) and strain the liquid, add 1 tbsp of honey. Drink this once it gets cooled down. Use this once the heat stroke symptoms start.

Sandalwood Paste

Add 5 tbsp of sandalwood powder and mix with water. Make a thin paste of it. Apply this on the forehead and chest and let it dry. Let it be for some hours. Sandalwood paste is safe and can use this anytime.

Precautions 

  • Always cover your head with a scarf or an umbrella when outdoors.
  • Drink 3 to 4 liters of water, especially during the summer months. Carry a water bottle when going out.
  • Wear loose-fitting and absorbent clothes.
  • Opt for light-colored clothing during the hot summers.
  • Do not exert yourself when outside in the Sun.
  • Sleep 6-8 hours and eat a balanced diet.
