Thailand has an amazing Food culture with some universally celebrated dishes, but there’s a dark side to her cuisine, containing many dishes that are beyond the realm of exotic, and might even be horrifying.

Pig Brain Soup

Although this might sound unsavoury at first, many who have tried this claim it’s a Michelin-level dish, and among the best food in Bangkok. The balls made of pigs’ brains melt in the mouth and are flavoured to perfection.

Blood Noodle Soup

This is another dish that might sound weird to laymen, but is actually quite Delicious and enjoyed by many. It features a delicious spiced and aromatic broth made from either pig’s or cow’s blood. You might not find any mention of this on a Bangkok travel guide but it’s still something worth experiencing.

Bamboo Worms

Locally known as Rod Duan, although these might look unappetising at best, a quick bite will probably make you wonder if this could serve as a finger-food because they are crunchy and delicious. This is one snack you can find on blogs such as Travel Bangkok Now.

Grasshoppers

It’s astonishing how much protein this common snack can provide, with a single handful containing the same amount of protein as a chicken breast.
