And here is the ‘Sly Granny’ —-

What comes to your mind when you think of Granny ? Love, compassion, memories, old stories, food cooked by her ? Well, you are right but when it comes to this ‘Sly Granny‘ its a different story altogether. This one is a book with a cover that is different from the story inside. The granny here likes pineapple and is a fan of Arnold Schwarzenegger ! Want to know more ? Head to Indira Nagar, Bangalore and let the story unfold !
The Granny’s house is designed in an impeccable manner all in line with the story of the Sly Granny which is a work of fiction ofcourse ! Spread across 2 floors, one with a Dining area to suit the masses and the other a roof top bar and an open terrace area with comfortable seating across the board.

With the Granny’s love for pineapple’s , one can definitely see a lot of pineapple shaped cutlery / jars/ mugs/ artifacts around

And with the love for Arnold, an entire wall is dedicated by this die hard fan of his.

The staircase leading to the terrace area is dotted with art work of all kinds and presents a pretty picture.

Different styles of seating adds to the charm of this place.

Invited here for a Food tasting event, it was time to experience what Granny had in store for us. Beginning with three of their unique cocktails , each blended to suit a different palate altogether. – Caballito ( Tequila based)

Chase & Status which was a Whisky Base drink and my personal favourite was a vodka based Caipiroska if i got that right.

Coming to the food , started off with Small Plates –

Barley Salad , the loner that kept our healthy quotient intact was a salad to cherish. The peanuts added the crunch effect and the orange reduction got in the flavour.

Pulled Chicken Taco : Taco base perfect, the tomato chutney and the pickled onions giving it a tangy flavour. Chicken loaded to max. Add lime to it and its party in the mouth

Tapas Style ShrimpKept it simple yet high on taste. The sauce is everything in this dish, gives it a good taste and texture.

Baked Brie Veg : Love the presentation on this one. Part of the Brunch menu, it sure is music to the taste buds expecially for vegetarians. It’s got a bit of everything, the greens, the crunch, the bun and a good sauce !

Calamari Fritto :  Again regular calamari from the granny. All day food category for me. Can hog on as long as it keeps coming !

Onion Potato Flat Bread Veg : Comfort food. Good crust on the bread. Onions and Sweet Potatoes gave it a tangy sour sweet taste. Will be on my list of things to order every time i visit here

Now, for the large plates or in other words – the Main course

IMAM BAYILDI : One of those dishes that make me like vegetarian food !  Stuffed Eggplant with apricots and feta cheese on a bed of couscous with  tahini cream and a spicy herb chutney. It’s a burst of flavours ! Have never tried eggplant with couscous before, unique and excellent !

PANDI CUBANO :  Pulled pork with bread, butter pickles and fried egg with a potato salad as side. The coorg style pork was well done and fried egg layered between the bread slices was perfect. The potato salad somehow did not fit in the whole meal and it was not needed as well, it was similar to the aloo masala stuffing in a masala dosa rather than a salad.

AGLIO E OLIO : Udon tossed with roasted garlic, parmesan, herbs and olive oil. Not very exciting but the flavour is there. Herbs add a nice touch to it.

ROAST LAMB :  Grab em when its served hot or else it loses the charm ! Delicious ! That sauce right there is one of the best and lamb cooked to perfection.

ROAST LAMB GNOCCHI:  A well balanced dish ! Gnocchi’s perfect to the T.  Light on the palate. Any time meal !

And Finally the Desserts !

Panna Cotta, Cheese Cake and Walnut Pie were the one’s to hit our table and each one impressed !  All the 3 entered my favourite list and really could not point out any flaw.

Service is great !  Pricing is on the higher side and Valet parking is available.  Go here to experience the story of the granny with a unique variety of food and beverages on offer.

Google map has the location right. It’s a little difficult to locate once one reaches the area with the restaurant’s name not easily visible. It’s in the same building as Chicos and Dhaba By Claridges, the latter managed by the same venture as Sly Granny.
