Why, In 2017, Groupon Is Still Relevant

Tags: groupon

Groupon was one of the fast growing companies in human history. During that recent boom, it seemed like there wasn’t a person on the planet who wasn’t using the coupon giant. Everyone was getting discounts on new restaurants, massages, photography classes, and more.

But what has changed? Why aren’t people talking about Groupon the way they once were?

While the buzz may be over, Groupon is still a great source for saving money. I still use it because the local deals are still great, plus Groupon has expanded into the areas of consumer goods. If your still on the fence about using Groupon nowadays, ask yourself, do you use Amazon? If so, you should also use Groupon. Groupon even has coupons and discount codes for Amazon.

With Groupon helping people save on consumer goods as well as local services, it’s still worth considering local services. And because this is my unbiased thoughts on Groupon, I of course include tips on how to be savvy when using Groupons locally.

Many new businesses will issue Groupons. New businesses are often inexperienced. So when getting a Groupon for say, a massage, make sure the business has its act in order. Are they answering the phone? Some places get so bombarded with Groupon inquiries they can’t deal with it. What about the website? Is it good or pretty scary? A good business has a great web presence before working with Groupon. If a business does not, it’s likely you could get a better massage elsewhere.

Saving money is great but not at the expense of the experience. Goal number one for you is having a good experience so never let that take a back seat to money savings.

But with Groupon coupons as I mentioned above, it’s easier to win. The discounts can be applied usually online or in-store.

What everyone should do is, before you buy something on Amazon, is go check with Groupon to see what kind of discounts you can get. It only takes about 20 seconds and if it takes you $20, that’s valuing your time at $20 per 20 seconds. Now THAT is a good return on your time. But of course only do this if finding coupons is fun for you. It’s hard to recommend anything that isn’t fun.

So Groupon is still relevant in 2017 because not only do they offer local deals on pizza and burgers, they also offer discounts on regular goods.

A lot of websites tell you to avoid making purchases. But it’s actually okay to even go to Groupon if you don’t have the intention of buying anything. You never know what you’ll find. If the ultimate goal of life is happiness, and you’ve discovered something that will make your day a bit brighter (pun: an electric toothbrush) your trip to Groupon will have been worth it.

So if you’re going to shop (who doesn’t) it’s probably worth your time to check out Groupon. I hope this article doesn’t come across as too sales-y it’s just hard not to get sales-y when you’re doing a post about something you feel passionate about. Maybe the next article will be about Tesla. Because I drove a Model S recently and my mind has been officially blown.
