How Women Can Improve the Bitcoin Market

The Cryptocurrency ecosystem could see an enormous influx of capital entering the Market in the next 2 years. This information follows the London Block Exchange’s research on the population of the cryptocurrency market. Encouraging statistics suggest that while there is an underrepresentation of Women in Bitcoin, interest among female investors in cryptocurrency is rapidly growing.

Despite representing a potentially enormous market, women have historically only made up a fraction of crypto investors, sitting at just 8.5% market share. However, sentiment amongst women is shifting, especially in the last 6 months where the percentage of women considering investing in Bitcoin has doubled from 6% to 13%.  Statistics are even more encouraging when looking at women in the millennial generation, with one in five expressing a desire to enter the cryptomarket.

The impact this will have on the industry is enormous.  By 2020 women are expected to hold $72 trillion of private wealth or 32% of the total. These numbers are only expected to grow as more women acquire senior positions in the workplace and Baby-Boomers begin to pass on inheritances to their children.

All of this will likely alter the way cryptocurrencies behave in the market as studies have found that women are typically more strategic when it comes to investing. Men, on the other hand, are typically less risk-averse and are 50% more likely to have a fear of missing out (FOMO) on a potential investment. A large enough pool of investors holding for long-term gain could help stabilize the volatile Bitcoin market.

It is important that women enter the cryptocurrency ecosystem as they represent 50% of the global population. Mainstream adoption can only be achieved with their support. The contributions women can offer to crypto extend beyond simply investing capital. Innovation in blockchain technology can be maximized when all stakeholders are invested in its success, which is why Localcoin has partnered up with initiatives geared towards encouraging women to enter the blockchain and cryptocurrency space.

Women in Crypto is a Toronto based conference aimed towards educating and encouraging women to take part in the cryptocurrency revolution. With an impressive panel of established female cryptocurrency experts, Women in Crypto strives to create an open and friendly environment for beginners to learn more about Bitcoin and the technology behind it.
