Most ladies think that the changes in their feet mean that they should always be resting but this is not true because remaining active during your pregnancy comes with many benefits. Instead, you should always focus on giving the feet the best care. And for this to be so, you should keep the four tips below in mind.

1) Avoid Being Stationary For Long Periods

Whether you are resting or standing, you should avoid remaining in the same position for long periods because it is not good for your feet. If you have to be on your feet for long durations at work, you should make sure that you take some breaks and sit down for a few minutes. Also, make sure that you do not sit for long periods. Always stand up and pace around for a few minutes and also try not to cross your legs when sitting

2) Get Regular Exercises

Some ladies think that pregnancy means that they should stop working out as it is not safe for the baby. Whereas it is a fact that some workouts might not be safe for your fetus, it is still important to exercises because it will benefit you in many ways including keeping your feet in good shape and minimizing the swelling. But, it is important to talk to your physician before you start the workouts and also make sure that you keep the exercises light.

3) Wear the Right Footwear

Choosing the right shoes for pregnancy is vital if you want to give your feet the best care. During the nine months of pregnancy, you will need something that is comfortable and breathable enough. Also, mothers need to make sure that their shoe provides enough arch support and that it has an excellent outsole that can cushion the feet from the pressure and shock that comes with standing or walking. The size should also be right and because your feet will always be swelling you should go for something that is a size larger than what you wear on ordinary days. Also, make sure that you keep adjusting the size to conform to the changes in your feet.

4) Massage your Feet

Every pregnant woman loves a good Foot massage as it feels nice and it helps to relieve some of the stress on the feet. Although you can do the massaging on your own in the first few months, when your bump grows big, you might need to get someone to do it for you. Rolling your feet over a frozen bottle of water is one of the best ways to massage them, and it is also easy to do without anyone’s help. It is important to remember that regular feet massage will improve blood circulation and is an effective way of reducing the swelling.

Foot care during pregnancy is important as it makes you look and feel good. The four tips above will help you with this, but there are many other things that you should do which include taking a lot of water and maintaining a healthy diet. However, if you suffer from other foot problems like over-pronation or you have flat feet it might be necessary to seek additional help or advice from an expert.
