A hark back to the classical times, Shyamal and Bhumika’s collection ‘The Princess’s soiree’ was their first appearance at the India Couture Week.
Their collection used crafts and intricate handiwork to take it through a journey of the quintessential bridal princess though the inspirations of travels from India to Europe.
In interesting fusion of modern silhouettes with classic colours of gold, red, coral blue, green and a prominent usage of black. The inspiration came from the Victorian era mixed with modern silhouettes, bardot necklines, ruffles capes and sweeping hemlines. There were floor length gowns, blouses, frills and ruffles with belted mid waisted dresses and separates, kalidar jackets and lehengas.
Lots of beadwork and sequins were used along with gold embroidery and floral patterns. Stone work and extensive use of crystals brought in opulence and grandure to the ensembles. Fine Zardozi and Aari work with glasspipes, beads and dabka also added glamour to it.
There were a few pieces of menswear complimenting the otherwise feminine silhouette. The men donned straight pants, with silk kurtas and embroidered jackets.
Bollywood starlet Athiya Shetty walked down the ramp for the designer duo at the show.
