The Smart Brabus Ultimate 125 Costs More Than a Porsche

In case you’ve ever dreamed about owning the coolest Smart Fortwo on the block, you should know it costs a pretty penny. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show a couple of weeks ago, the new Smart Fortwo Brabus Ultimate 125 will set you back exactly $52,800, if you go for the Coupe version, or $55,800 if you opt out for the Cabriolet.

Meanwhile, an entry-level Porsche 718 Cayman costs about the same, and we’re not sure if this is a good thing or not. I mean, who in their right mind would ignore the Porsche badge for this tiny blue vehicle? Yes, it’s ridiculously cool, luxurious and surprisingly fast as well, but still.. it seems a bit too much for this toy car.

Brabus has been offering these special Smart editions since 2004, in very, very limited runs, and the 123-hp 0.9-liter three-cylinder engine is a pleasant surprise.

All Ultimate 125s show off a bright turquoise exterior called Blu Glauco, as well as a sporty wide-body kit comprising flared fenders, a new front apron and rear diffuser, plus 18″ alloys wrapped around in performance rubber. The cabin packs every single option available on the ForTwo catalog, with turquoise leather covering the dashboard and parts of the door panels and steering wheel.

Illuminated scuff plates, stainless steel pedals, and velour floor mats are also included. This is not really the supercar of my dreams, but I can’t deny this Brabus project isn’t worthy of our full and undivided attention. It looks more of a kids’ car than anything else; at least, to us.
