We can easily call 2018 the year of high profile celebrity weddings.

From Bollywood, several couples took their marriage vows including Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas, and Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja.

While some celebrities suddenly announced the news others decided to involve the social media and of course, shared lovely photos.

Sonam-Anand

Sonam Kapoor married her boyfriend Anand Ahuja in May in an intimate and stunning ceremony. They married according to traditional Sikh customs at Kapoor’s Bandra bungalow and then held a reception at the Leela Hotel in Mumbai.

Sonam Kapoor, well known as a fashionista, chose Anuradha Vakil as the designer for her wedding attire. She wore a captivating traditional red lehenga for the wedding. The wedding photos were shared by all from Karan Johar to Karishma Kapoor on Twitter and Instagram.

Priyanka-Nick

Priyanka Chopra and her beau Nick Jonas were married in December 2018. It was a superb coming together of two cultures. The wedding took place at the gorgeous Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on December 2 and 3.

They celebrated with two beautiful wedding ceremonies – a Hindu ceremony and a Christian ceremony. For their Christian wedding, the couple and their families wore suits tailored by Ralph Lauren. Social networks went crazy over Priyanka’s long veil.

The Hindu wedding took place in the Umaid Bhawan Palace, with the fort of Mehrangarh in the background. Chopra wore a lehenga made by Sabyasachi.

Deepika-Ranveer

After four films and six years of dating, Deep-Veer had the most extravagant celebrity wedding of the year. The actual marriage of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh was a private ceremony.

The couple held two ceremonies on November 14 and 15 at the exotic Lake Como in Italy. The couple managed to keep the photographers at bay and later shared some photos from Italy in social media.

On November 14, the couple held a traditional Mangalorean wedding ceremony, followed by a Sindhi wedding ceremony on November 15. They organized a reception in Bangalore and Mumbai on November 21 and 28.

Isha Ambani-Anand Piramal

The biggest and fattest wedding was between Isha Ambani, the daughter of Mukesh Ambani the wealthiest Asian, with Anand Piramal, the son of billionaire Ajay Piramal, the well-known pharma billionaire.

The 7-day extravaganza began in early December when a fleet of planes brought 1,200 guests to the beautiful city of Udaipur, in the state of Rajasthan. The celebration before the wedding was crowned by a performance by singer Beyonce.

The guest list in Udaipur included former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a galaxy of Bollywood stars, several politicians, bankers and billionaire friends and their families including Kumar Mangalam Birla and Sunil Mittal (whose telecommunications companies were hit by Jio from Ambani service) as well as steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, metal magnate Anil Agarwal and billionaire banker Uday Kotak.

Conclusion

Never have so many celebrity weddings rained down. It was a chance for ordinary mortals to see pomp and grandeur on a massive scale and also celebrate this season of love and romance. Nothing shows off India as well as a huge Indian wedding does. It remains one of the most important aspects of Indian culture as well as showbiz.
