Capsule wardrobe. Two words that took the fashion world by storm. It was coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a boutique called ‘wardrobe’. It was popularized by Donna Karan in the 1980’s when she came out with a seven-piece interchangeable collection of workwear.

A Capsule Wardrobe is just that- a collection of few essential pieces of clothing that will never go out of fashion. Like trousers, skirts and coats that can be paired with seasonal pieces of clothing. The main aim is to maximize the number of outfits that can be created with limited clothing choices. This way you make sure you use every item of clothing in your closet.

It indeed adds a very interesting twist to fashion. A lot of people out there still aren’t aware that something as interesting exists in the world of fashion. Fret not!! I’m here to give you a break down of some very interesting facts about Capsule wardrobes.

Why? Because imagine the time, energy and money you save when you don’t have to worry about what to wear? We could all use some extra time, money and energy in other aspects of life.

Yep, I’m contradicting my previous point. Why? Because it isn’t the best thing for everybody. It could turn into a nightmare to some, from having to choose from the same limited amount of clothing choices.

When you don’t have a million things to choose from you know exactly what you want to wear and how you want to style it. Life gets a lot easier when choosing outfits for the day gets easier.

Imagine the clutter that you have going on in your wardrobe. Now imagine it with more than half of it gone and having just staple items. Getting rid of things you don’t need or use anymore can help you get rid of all of the mess

Now that your wardrobe choices are limited, you will tend to stick to clothes that you love and feel good in. This, in turn, lets your actual personal style come through.

Are you someone who has to buy something every time you go out? Then I suggest you stay far away from the idea of having a capsule wardrobe. But if you’re unlike me and have the discipline to get through with a fewer amount of clothes, then go ahead.

How you ask? Do you tend to gravitate to your fave jeans or top most of the time? Do you have items of clothing that you haven’t worn in a very long time? There you have it. You were capsule wardrober (let’s just ignore the new word I just made up) without even realizing it. The only difference is that you had a secret capsule wardrobe amidst all your other clothes.
