Holi Inspired Nail Art Designs

It’s Holi !!! There’s no better time than now to show your love for bright Nail colors. A simple nail art is always a lot better than wearing just plain nail colors. And you don’t need to be a nail-artist to perfect these designs. So keeping the festival of colors in mind, here are some very easy nail art designs that you can flaunt this year.

  1. Splatter nail art.

This design screams Holi to me. And it is probably the easiest of the lot to recreate. The various splatter effects that it creates makes it look like you spent hours trying to perfect it, when in reality it took just a few minutes.

HOW TO DO IT:

Step 1: Apply a base coat

Step 2: Apply two coats of a nude or white nail color of your choice as the base color.

Step 3: Dip a straw into a bright nail polish and slowly blow it onto your nails. This will result in a splatter effect.

Step 4: Take a Q tip or a small brush dipped in nail polish remover and wipe away excess polish around the nails.

Step 5: Apply a top coat to protect the nail art.

       2. Splatter with more colors

This is just a slight variation of the first design, but with two or more colors. For steps follow the same as the first one.

      3. Polka dots for the minimalist

This design is for those are who aren’t very keen on going over the top with very bright nail colors. This one’s for all the minimalists out there.

HOW TO DO IT:

Step 1: Apply a base coat and let it dry

Step 2: Cut strips of tape and stick it on your nail forming a triangle. You can even invert the triangle if you fancy a change.

Step 3: Use the back of a toothpick or a bobby pin as a dotting tool to apply the dots.

Step 4: Start with dotting a single color first and you can continue building it with various other colors of your choice until you are satisfied.

Step 5: Make sure to slowly peel off the tape and fix any leaks that may have seeped through the tape with a small brush.

Step 6: Finish it off with a top coat and Voila!!

      4. Sponged on

Have a few different colors that you want to wear? Then this is the perfect way to incorporate all your favorite shades into one design.

HOW TO DO IT:

Step 1: Apply a base coat

Step 2: Then apply a white nail color on top and let it dry.

Step 3: Take a small makeup sponge and swipe the first nail color of your choice on the sponge and dab it onto your nail. Do that with the same color on all nails. Continue to build it up until you get the desired opacity.

Step 4: Continue the same process with the rest of the colors. You can switch out the placement of the colors from one nail to the other.

Step 5: Clean off the excess from around the nails

Step 6: Apply top coat to seal in the design.

  1. Color block

A perfect way to add a twist to the classic French manicure.

Step 1: Apply base coat

Step 2: Apply a nail color of your choice and let it dry.

Step 3: Pick a contrasting color and slowly follow the curve of your nail to create the French tip. Apply another coat to make it opaque.

Step 4: If you cant free hand the French tip, you can make a stencil out of tape and stick it on top of base color.

Step 5: Once dry, apply the top coat and you’re done.

  1. Marble with a twist

Who doesn’t love marble nail art? This Holi try and add a twist to the pretty nail art by incorporating brighter shades into it.

HOW TO DO IT:

Step 1: Apply a base coat

Step 2: Choose white or a light beige as the base color.

Step 3: pick out the colors of your choice and put few drops of it onto a piece of aluminum foil.

Step 4: Scrunch up a piece of cling film and dip into the nail color and then with a light hand dab it onto your nails. Repeat it on all the other nails.

Step 5: Do the same with the other color and let it dry.

Step 6: Paint on thin lines of shimmer nail color using a brush. (optional)

Step 7: Clean off the excess from around the nails

Step 8: Apply a top to finish the look.

TIPS:

  1. Do not forget to use a clear base coat. It acts as a barrier and protects your nails from staining. It will also aid in easy flawless application.
  2. The topcoat helps lock in the polish and makes sure that your designs last longer by preventing chipping. It will also prevent the Holi colors from staining your nails.

There you go!! Some very simple nail art designs to try this Holi. Wishing you all a happy and colorful Holi.
