Mommy Bloggers On The Best Beauty Advice Their Mothers Gave Them

There is no denying mothers always have some sage advice ready to be passed down to their kin. As unnecessary or unconventional as some of these insights might seem in your day, age, and time, you can’t help but go back to those very same tips and tricks when you become a Mother yourself. And, that’s when you realise that mum knows best; she’s been there, done that, and she’s always shown you the right way forward.

This Mother’s Day (26th March), we decided to get in touch with some British Mommy Bloggers and ask them two simple questions:

  1. What is the best beauty advice your mother has given you?
  2. What is the best beauty advice from your own trials and experimentation that you would like to pass on to your children?

Mommy Blogger Of Mother Pukka

The cheerful, quirky, and lively Anna Whitehouse is the woman behind the blog, Mother Pukka. Anna is a mom to a beautiful baby girl and is expecting another child this summer. She captures her daily hustle on her blog—you can find news, reviews, and events, all served up in an endearingly witty style. Mother Pukka is for people who happen to be parents but unlike a conventional parenting blog, Anna manages to keep the spectrum of topics broad and exciting. We reached out to her with our two questions on beauty advice and here are her two cents on the matter:

My mother always told me: “Keep doing what you love. If your eyes are alive, no one will notice anything else.”

To my kids , I’d tell them: “To see your beauty routine as a daily moment-to-yourself. It’s not about vanity, it’s about focusing on yourself for five minutes.”

Mommy Blogger Of Dress Like A Mum

Zoë started her blog, Dress like a Mum, as a project to demystify the misconceptions associated with how moms dress up. Being a mother of two herself, Zoë believes there is no ‘proper’ way to dress regardless of if you are a mum or not. Her blog is a place for outfit inspiration, beauty tips, and style ideas. Her charming personality is mirrored effortlessly in her blog and one can’t help but adore her inspirational endeavor. We reached out to this chic mommy with our questions and here’s what she had to say:

My mother always advised me “Not to pluck my eyebrows.” I never have, and they are okay! And, to always moisturize. She also encouraged me to eat healthily and to drink lots of water.

For my kids, I think I will pass down my mother’s knowledge and teach them exactly the same!”

Mommy Blogger Of Mum In The Mad House

The award-winning blog Mum in the Mad House is written by the vivacious Jen Walshaw. Mum to two boys aged 10 and 11, she believes in raising creative children and her blog chronicles all of her adventures with her family. What you will find in her blog is a lot of crafting, art, cooking with kids, realistic parenting tips, and screen-free activities. We reached out to Jen with our two questions and here’s what she had to say:

The best beautify advice I got from my mum was to look after my skin. To take off any makeup before I went to bed and make sure that I always had a clean face.  Plus she always told me I was beautiful whenever I was makeup free, which definitely reinforced the fact that I didn’t need makeup.

When it comes to beauty advice for my boys, we keep things free of parabens and SLS, and I focus on cleaning their face before they go to bed. I am hoping that by having a good routine their teenage acne will be kept at a minimum!”
