No Disintegrations: Caletti Boba Fett Road Race Special

A long time ago, at a Handmade Bicycle Show far, far away… Although it wasn’t all that long ago, but Salt Lake City was far away if you didn’t make it to NAHBS last weekend. If you did, you may have spotted this Boba Fett-inspired frame by Caletti Cycles.

“No disintegrations”, Darth Vader requests of Boba Fett when offering a reward for the Millenium Falcon in The Empire Strikes Back. There’s no fear of that happening here, either, the frame built by the expert hands of John Caletti.

This is a Road Race Special, the speedster in the Caletti lineup, assembled from lightweight, shaped, large diameter, ultra-butted, high strength steel tubing, and is designed for riding hard and fast.

John created it for Ollie at Dark Matter Finishing to showcase his skills in the paint booth at the 2017 NAHBS last weekend in Utah and, from the looks of things, they’re beyond reproach. So’s the final component list, a mix of colour-matched top-shelf brands.

It’s dripping with anodised Chris King hubs, headset and spacers. The hubs were laced to Atomik Carbon rims by John at Jones Precision Wheels, driven by a SRAM FORCE group and a threaded Kogel ceramic bearing bottom bracket and derailleur pulleys.

An ENVE finishing kit tops it off, and guess what: the whole package is up for sale. If you’re a fan of the greatest sci-fi movie franchise in the galaxy, or even if you just have a penchant for the best bicycles in the universe (and let’s face it, you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t), head to the Caletti website for sizing and pricing details.
