Maintaining gym equipment for home use is much easier than you think. In fact, simplecare is essential to keep the warranty of your home gym equipment intact in the case that if something happens, then the manufacturer has to send a technician out to your home. Keeping your home gym equipment in good working order is easy.

Here’s how to keep your gym equipment for home use looking and working good with just a few basic steps that will take very little of your time and patience:

Wiping home gym equipment

Keep everything clean and wipe everything down

  • After each use wipe down padded surfaces with Colin, Lysol or any other sanitizing spray you prefer to use. Not only it is essential for the health of your equipment, but also for yourself and anyone else who uses your home gym equipment.

  • Use a vinyl conditioner once every month on the padded surfaces to keep the material soft and resistant to cracking and tearing.

  • Wipe down all other parts of the equipment every two weeks and also try to keep them dust free and looking good – more often if you use chalk around the machine.

Oil or grease the moving parts

  • Ensure that oil is applied to the weight tracks (i.e., the vertical bars that the weight stack slides on) every month, more often if used heavily.

  • A simple silicone-based spray is all that is needed to keep your home gym equipment in good condition. Using rag is best to prevent over-spray.

  • Some equipment may have grease fittings at their pivot points. For cardio equipment, make sure to read your owner’s manual for oiling/greasing instructions.

  • Many high-end cardio equipment have oil reservoirs that need to be checked/filled occasionally as well as your other home gym equipment.

Perform a once-monthly inspection for wear and tear

  • In general, when something on the machine isn’t working properly, you’re going to notice it while working out. Some items are not as obvious and can increase your chance of injury if not noticed in time.
  • Check whether your home gym equipment has any cracks, bends, etc., that shouldn’t be there.
  • Cables and resistance bands are something that need to be examined at least once a month for breakage or damage.
