Manchester attack: Three more arrests in bomber investigation

Police have placed in custody three men as they continue to determine whether the Manchester attack executer Salman Abedi acted alone.

Among the three is Abedi’s 23 year old brother.

Abedi blew himself up in the process killing 22 persons and injuring 64 others who were outside the Ariana Grande concert. It is understood that an off-duty policewoman is among those killed.

With this bombing, terror threat in the UK has risen to its critical level. What this implies is that there is a high possibility of more attacks occurring.

In order to offset such an imminent occurrence, highly trained Military personnel are being deployed in the key areas.

Chief constable of Greater Manchester Police, Ian Hopkins, made it clear that the government is afraid of another attack, saying that they are investigation a ‘network’.

The public is no longer allowed into the Palace of Westminster in obedience to a police advice. The closure remains indefinite until further notice.

According to Home Secretary Amber Rudd, the Manchester attack easily ranks as the most sophisticated attacks ever experienced.

Although this is yet to be confirmed by the police, analysts believe that the bomber is likely to have been a mule and used a personally made device.

The Home Secretary what many fear, that the terrorist is likely to have worked in collaboration with other teams. “It seems likely, possible, that he wasn’t doing this on his own”, said Amber Rudd.

Mr. Hopkins confirmed that the police conducted a controlled explosion on a property so as to gain entry. But after a search, they didn’t find anything suggesting a bombing had been planned in it. Hopkins added that there was no presence of military on Manchester streets and that no soldiers would be deployed in the street.

 Raid on Abedi family

Abedi’s family was raided on Tuesday in their Fallowfield district home, South Manchester. This was part of a three series operations conducted to establish whether the bomber acted independently or with a group of people. Family friends and neighbors said Abedi’s parents had recently returned to Libya.

Hopkins assumption that there are no military in the streets was turned down by Ms Rudd who said that system for troop deployment was already in place. This is meant to offer additional support for police who said that military would provide “static armed guarding at key locations”, including Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, embassies and the Houses of Parliament.

The program will see as much as 3,800 troops operate under police command.

Evidently appearing irritated, Ms Rudd said that it wasn’t right for the US security officials to have publicly released Abedi’s identity. She maintained that this may hamper investigations and even added that she was reviewing exchanging intelligence with the US.
