What kind of a story are you creating?

Do you ever notice that some of the greatest stories you have to relive and tell come from times in your life when, well, quite frankly, life or things were tough.

Like, I was thinking today on my drive home about the time the power went out in all of like 3 cities, including the Detroit Metro area.  I wasn't so fun to be without power for a couple of days, but it sure is a fun story to tell now-a-days.

There was also the time I was camping with a group of friends, and one of the guys in our group was taking his car into town because he was low on gas and wanted to fill up.  I went with, because I wanted to get some cash out of the ATM, and well, we drove for about 4 or 5 miles before he never made it into town and ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere.  The walk back was not so fun in some high heeled sandals and 90 degree weather.  But well, it is really fun to tell now.

I try to remind myself of this at my point in my life.  Some days seem SO stressful.  I seriously wonder WHAT I am doing.  There is so much going on with me moving our family to a new house.  Living on one income that is a also a lot less than it once was.  Only having one car, and to boot, this car happens to be a jeep, that I have to climb up into each time I go to load my kids in or out.  The kids hardly even fit in the darn thing.  They have to sit with there legs bent in order for us to put the seat in driving position.  The ride is bumpy, and cold, and well, it is annoying.

In the midst of this, I work daily on my home businesses in order to create a career for myself that will bring my family financial security for the future, and time freedom to enjoy said family.

And it is craziness.  But I know I am creating a great story for the future.  I have no doubt in my mind that I will do these things I have planned...as painful (ok, a bit of an exaggeration there) as it may be now.  Once I get there, once I make it, well, I think life'll be boring...and I'll be glad to have a story to tell.

A story about the struggle to get there.  And I will tell it.  And we will laugh.  And cherish these times.
