If you have worked with an SEO agency and they throw terms at you such as Domain Authority, and page authority. You may not know what they are saying. People in the technology field like to speak their on lingo and forget how to translate it in normal terms. When I watched this video, I felt it was a good explanation on some of these SEO metrics. The simple way to think about it is that Domain authority is a score from 0 – 100. The higher the domain authority for your site then presumably the better it will rank. Domain authority is only one of the factors for ranking a website. The average domain rank for a website is different across industry. A high domain authority does not translate to higher keyword rankings. You want to increase your domain authority using natural backlinks and nothing spammy. So, there is a bit of a science behind the process. The page authority is the same idea as the domain authority but only for the individual page.
Google is changing. Everything is still centered around links. A link is a vote from a linking website. Not all votes are equal in the digital landscape. Websites like Mashable will carry a stronger vote than someone who started a new website.
