What is a Webinar?

Tags: webinar

A Webinar is like a seminar but rather than take place with all participants gathered under one roof, it gets people together via the World Wide Web. The participants would have no need to travel beyond their local domain, providing they have the connections and set up in place to be part of the video web conference.

What is a webinar? We define this and its uses

Webinars are also used for online teaching methods where pupils can access a tutor remotely via the web. This differs to class teaching as pupils will need to raise a query or ask a question by entering information into a live online conversation box, rather than the traditional putting the hand up.

There are many dynamic and special features that a webinar has including the ability of students and teachers to get involved in interactive questions during the presentation. This allows the teacher or presenter to be certain that students have clearly understood the methods of the last topic delivered.

What is a Webinars – Features

Students are able to type in any queries or baffling questions into a live on screen display area, often called a “chat box” or alternatively a student can speak directly into a microphone that can then be heard by all members of the webinar, or just the tutor only. The privacy settings are changed by the pupil if he or she decides they want to speak only to one particular person within the webinar community or everyone.

What is a Webinar used for?

So, what is a webinar; it is a far cheaper option to learn or meet up with fellow employees and company representatives who can be anywhere in the world. Imagine the travel costs one would save by holding a webinar as opposed to gathering together under one place.  Moreover, students can watch some of the presentations over and over again, assuming they did not grasp some of the lessons during the first lecture.
