Punjab State Teacher’s Eligibility Test (PSTET) is a very important entrance test for those who want to make the career as a government teacher in Punjab. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) get the authority to conduct the examination. It is very essential to check PSTET 2018 Exam pattern and syllabus prior which helps to get the good score without a doubt.

Candidates who successfully scores 60% i.e. qualifying marks in the exam they will be regarded as the pass. SC/ ST/ OBC/ Differently able candidates will get 5% of relaxation to qualify in the exam. Candidates, who will qualify for the PSTET exam, will get a certificate with 7 years of validity. Every candidate, whether they are qualified or not can fill the application form to reappear in the exam and attempt to score well as many times they want. No restriction will be applicable to the candidate.

PSTET 2018 Exam Pattern

Now, we come to the point of the exam pattern, in both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The exam duration is 90 minutes or 1 ½ hours. Both papers consist of 150 multiple choice questions. Candidates will get 4 options in each question in which only one option will be correct.

The examiner will score 1 mark for each correct answer. No negative marking will be allotted for wrong answers. Paper 1 conduct to become a teacher for class 1st to 5th in the Government Schools in Punjab State.

If you want to appear for the Paper 2 then you need to attempt 150 MCQ within the specific time period. The question paper consists of the subjects for class 6th to 8th.

Syllabus of PSTET Paper 2 2018

For Paper-2, candidates are 4 sections in the question paper.

• Sections: Child Development & Pedagogy,
• Language-1 and Language-2 are having 30 MCQ in each.
• For Math and Science or Social Studies/Social Science, there will be 60 MCQ in each.

Child Development and Pedagogy (Paper1 and Paper2)

Child Development and Pedagogy focus on the understanding level of the age group of 6-11 years for Paper-1 and 11-14 years for Paper-2. It also focuses on features and interaction with the learners as well as qualities of the good communicator.

Language-1 and Language-2 (Paper1 and Paper2)

Test of Language I focus on the proficiency of medium of instruction as chosen from the prescribed list.

Language II is other than the prescribed. Candidate should choose from the available list and specify an application form. The test of language II focuses on language, communication and understanding abilities.

Mathematics and Environmental Studies (Paper1) and Math and Science or Social Studies/Social Science (Paper2)

These all subjects focus on concept, problem-solving abilities and understanding of teaching related to the subject. The subject will be divided into units according to the syllabus is given by the government for class IV.

In Paper-2, Mathematics and Science test will be of 30 marks each. The syllabus will be distributed in units as prescribed by Punjab state government or SCERT.
