IELTS Preparation: Key Facts for Test Day

IELTS is a challenging test. You can reduce the stress by ensuring that you understand all the guidelines and have all the practicalities under control for the test day.

Here are four key points, and some do’s and don’ts.

  1. Admin for test day

On your test day (both for the written and Speaking test), you will need to generate the identification document which you used to complete your IELTS test form. You might also need two identical passport-sized photos.

  1. Stationery for test day

You are only permitted to take pens, pencils, and erasers into the test. Remember to fill in your answer paper for the Listening and Reading tests with a pencil, as the processing machine cannot read ink.

  1. Arrive with plenty of time to spare

What is a plenty of time? Enough to allow you to relax yourself down and let the anxiety of trying to find the right building and the right room subside. Time means you are completely concentrated on quality when you get into test hall.

  1. Time is points… precious points

The clock does not stop for you to go outside for any reason. The time you spend outside is the time you are not spending on your test. Those minutes could make all the difference to you getting the score you need.

Do’s and don’ts in the test

  • Do switch off your cell before going into the test. If it rings, you may be disqualified.
  • Don’t leave your seat when you have finished your test; wait until you are asked by the invigilators.
  • Do know that you are allowed to ask the invigilator if you cannot hear the Listening audio properly.

These ideas were submitted by IELTS teachers at Academy of IELTS.  Academy of IELTS is among most recognized training center for IELTS examination. The Institute offers a tailored course that effectively assists students to score better in the examination.
