When we consume less power, we reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by power plants, conserve the Earth’s natural resources and protect ecosystem from destruction. We can contribute to a healthier and happier world by taking steps to reduce our energy intake
Saving energy can protect the air and prevent climate change. Most notable way to helps the environment is by decreasing power plant emission. Most power plants burn crude oil, coal or other Fossil Fuels to generate electricity. This method might cost a lot of money but think of it, we can save our Earth from being more damaged that caused by Carbon Dioxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
Carbon dioxide which accounts for the majority of all airborne pollution is a greenhouse gas. When carbon dioxide is release, it absorbs the Sun’s warmth and keeps the heat in our atmosphere. Greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenal and it’s important for survival on our planet. However, as power plants burn more fuel to create more energy, the extra carbon dioxide waste traps to much heat. This can cause a really bad impact on our land and our lives. Effect of greenhouse gas emissions include:
Heat waves, a prolonged period of abnormally hot weather
Drought, lack of rain or shortage of water
Higher sea levels, caused by warming of the ocean and increased melting of land-based ice such as glaciers and ice sheets
Abnormal weather patterns, weather event is significantly different from the average or usual weather pattern
Increased intensity of natural disaster
Smog, fog or haze combined with smoke and other atmospheric pollutants
Acid rain, caused by the industrial burning of fossil fuels and the waste gases from which contain sulphur and nitrogen oxides which combine with atmospheric water to form acids
Why is saving energy important? As you can see there are many reasons that show saving energy is really important, especially for the environment. The world’s dependence on fossil fuels is creating a problem that will affect generations to come. We must protect our environment for future generations
