REAL BODIES

During a recent visit to Las Vegas, my husband and I visited Real Bodies at Bally’s and it was fascinating enough to warrant a review here.

I had wanted to visit the Bodies Exhibit for years and when in Vegas one cannot just eat, gamble and drink. We decided to hit up some exhibits and Real Bodies was on top of the list. When I first looked at the admissions price of $25 per person I thought that maybe we should save our money and buy one of the giant frozen Daiquiris on the strip instead, but I was able to get the tickets for half the price using my Groupon app. (Side note: having a Groupon app and using the location feature presented us with a huge variety of offers on food, drinks, and activities!)
The exhibit is at Bally’s Hotel and you just “swim” along with the masses down the strip until you come to the somewhat cluttered entryway to Bally’s. Of course you have to walk through the entire casino and down some escalators to the exhibit, but once in there it has nothing Vegas’ish about it.

There are not a lot of displays, but the ones they have pack a punch. Bodies taken apart in all kinds of ways to show the intricacies of the human physique and the miracle that this all truly is. From entire bodies to body parts, male and female, in action and just being, everything is there.

I was surprised that we were able to take photos and it felt strange to photograph bodies that once had a soul, were someone’s father, brother, mother or sister. Of course the photog in me couldn’t help but snap away and capture the whole event. The entire exhibit is very scientifically built, nothing gory or disgusting about it.

One thing to mention is that my husband has a slightly more sensitive stomach when it comes to eating after visiting such exhibit and we had not so smartly timed our visit to happen prior to dinner. So what do you do when you aren’t quite ready to eat after having seen an array of corpses and body parts? You go and hit the penny slots to get some distraction!  After that we hit up Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan.  I may write a review about that one as well…

I would highly recommend this exhibit unless you know it will make you sick. Vegas has plenty of other things to do and then there are always the penny slots!
