Indian Council of Agricultural Research shortened as ICAR is a self governed department which is fully responsible for organizing agricultural education and research in India. This department was build up on 16 July 1929 as a certified society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It works under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture. ICAR is counted as the largest network of agricultural research and education institutes in all over the world. The main office of ICAR is placed at New Delhi, India.
