Could you find a Lucky Red envelope at intu Trafford Centre this weekend?!

Thousands of pounds worth of free gifts and goodies will be hidden around Intu Trafford Centre from Thursday 15 February for lucky shoppers to get their hands on as part of its Chinese New Year celebrations.

Taking on the Chinese tradition of gifting Red Envelopes for luck, the centre will be filled with over 1,000 red envelopes packed with goodies including intu Gift Cards, Estee Lauder beauty treatments, Leon coffee and much, much more. Eagle-eyed shoppers visiting the centre from Thursday will need to keep their eyes peeled for a chance of winning, as the letters are distributed throughout the three days.

Taking place from Thursday 15 February to Saturday 17 the mall will be filled with oriental surprises for the whole family to enjoy. Celebrating the year of the Dog, the mall will be filled with photo-friendly installations including a giant oriental floral archway and enchanting lion dances. On Chinese New Year (Friday 16 February), be mesmerised by the hypnotic movements of the Lion Dance as the talented performers exhibit one of China’s most famous displays and tap along to the beat of the pangu drummers. Bringing a mass of colour to The Orient, the parade will be performed four times throughout the day starting from 2.15pm.

On Saturday 17 February, local artist Joe Ford will be teaching children the traditional art form of woodblock painting on Peel Avenue between 11am and 4pm.

Finally, on Friday 16 February, children and LEGO lovers of all ages are encouraged to join LEGOLAND Discovery Centre’s master model builder to help create a LEGO Chinese dragon to continue the celebrations.

Plus, with a host of traditional Chinese and Eastern dishes to feast on including Yang Sing, Tampopo and East Street, it’s easy to make a great day of the celebrations.

Alison Niven, Regional Centre Director for intu Trafford Centre said: “We’re hosting a Chinese New Year long weekend to remember packed with traditional celebrations from lion dances to amazing installations, delicious food to Lucky Red Envelopes we’re a must visit destination this half-term.”
