Are you scared to travel around the world?

Dreaming of visiting cities like Paris, New York, Tokyo, or Rome? We have to admit that there are many cities on our travel bucket list! With many museums, restaurants, hotels, parks, libraries, shops, and more, cities are definitely a great way to know a country’s history, culture, food, and people, while also enjoying their modernity and technological advances. Not all cities are unsafe, and some of the cities you think are safe might not be.

The Economist has just released the Safe Cities Index 2017 which ranked 60 cities based on factors such as personal Security, digital security, health security, and infrastructure security. While cities are global social and economic hubs, the factors that make them successful also make them more vulnerable, particularly with the growing pressure on housing supply, healthcare, transportation, and water and power infrastructure. Cities also face threats like terrorist attacks and cyber threats.

With this in mind, a group of experts from the Economist analyzed 49 indicators across each aspect of security to come up with a score out of 100. The safest cities received the highest scores. The top spots of the index were grabbed by Asian and European cities while most South Asian, Middle East, and African cities make up the bottom.
