Budget Eurovision 2017: How a foreigner to walk and rent a $ 100 apartment in Kyiv

In the midst of Eurovision-2017, the issue of housing prices in the capital is especially relevant. As you know, initially Ukraine was preparing for a large influx of tourists from Europe, in connection with which the prices for daily rent of housing in Kyiv and related services for accommodation were raised: food, airport transfers, souvenirs, etc. Even the tickets for a few months before the song contest cost in the range of 2000 UAH.

However, the situation changed in May 2017 – on the eve of Eurovision. Organizers have reduced the cost of tickets from 2000 to 499 UAH. Thus, almost everyone can afford to go to Eurovision – without large investments and colossal costs.

Weekend at Eurovision does not exceed $ 100

According to the company’s operational director of the daily housing reservation Dobovo.com, Dmytro Malakhov, rental prices for apartments have fallen and continue to fall to this day:

– To date, we see the following situation: an apartment in Kyiv, where the price was initially set at 4000 UAH / day, now it is rented for 800 UAH / day. And perhaps, this is not the limit for landlords who want to recoup their business in housing in all possible ways.

According to Dmytro Malakhov, the excitement associated with the statement that Europeans will close their eyes to artificially high prices, has not justified itself.

– Landlords were expecting a large influx of tourists from abroad, but 90% of Eurovision guests are local people, tourists from other cities of Ukraine. In this regard, apartments are cheaper because they are not populated in them, – says Dmytro Malakhov.

Thus, having with you 100 $ (2650 hryvnia) you can rent accommodation for a day (800 UAH), visit Eurovision (500 UAH) and you will still have 1350 UAH to dine in a restaurant and buy souvenirs from Kyiv.
