Being A Liverpool Fan From London

Despite the fact that I have lived in London all of my life, I have still always been a fan of Liverpool FC due to the fact that I was taught a love of the beautiful game by my uncle and because he was a die-hard Liverpool fan, I consequently followed suit.
It was difficult growing up in London supporting a team from Liverpool however, as kids can be very cruel when they get the notion into their heads that one is a supporter of a particular team for the wrong reasons. No one would ever believe me about my uncle and I was labeled a glory-hunter by my football loving friends.

The constant tanting certainly didn’t make my support of the club waver in any way however; if anything, it made it stronger. These days now that I am financially independent I travel up to Anfield from London as frequently as I can to watch matches between Kenny Dalglish’s team and whichever team they happen to be playing that week. This means that I am often on the hunt for cheap Liverpool city centre hotels for me to stay in that are near to the stadium whenever I am visiting the city to watch one of their games. On occasion I also stay in Derby as a close childhood friend of mine owns a chain of hotels in Derby and whenever I have a spare ticket for the match at Anfield I invite him along and then he lets me stay in one of his hotels for free.

I also frequently travel to away games and I was in attendance at the Stadium of Light for our match against Martin O’Neill’s Sunderland last week. Charlie Adam had a shocking game for us in midfield, too often conceding possession and giving away numerous needless fouls, while our inexperienced defence was unable to handle the movement of Nicklas Bendtner, the striker on loan with the Wearsiders from Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. After Frazier Campbell hit the post with a drive from twenty yards in the fifty-second minute the Dane was the first to react after the ball popped up off of a combination of the foot of the post and the back of Reina’s head and found the back of the net for the only goal of the game, condemning us to a third straight defeat in the league and just about ruling out the possibility of us qualifying for next season’s Champions League as we are now ten points adrift of Arsenal in fourth position.
