2013-2014 Winter Fun! PART TWO!

Along with the epic skiing and riding at the Number One Ski Resort in North America, there is SO much to do here in Jackson Hole that we had to break it up into two blog entries! If your trip to Snow King Hotel or Grand View Lodge has you arriving prior to February 15th, be sure to check out part one of our Winter Fun blog. Reoccurring Events:

•    Mondays:
6:00pm to 9:00pm. Hootenanny at Dornans in Moose. Local Musicians take the stage to perform for those dining and drinking at Dornans. Every Monday December 2nd through March 31st.
 
•    Tuesdays:
6:00pm to 10:00pm. Acoustic Open Mic Jam Night at Hayden’s Post. Every Tuesday from January 7 to March 25. At Hayden’s Post, inside Snow King Hotel. 
 
•    Wednesdays:
7:00pm to 10:00pm. BINGO! All Proceeds go towards scholarships for local high school seniors. Every Wednesday through April. At the Elks Lodge.
 
6:00pm to 10:00pm. Board Game Night.  Come dine, drink, and play your favorite board games with your friends. Every Wednesday from January 8 to March 26. At Hayden’s Post, inside Snow King Hotel.
 
•    Thursdays:
9:00pm to 11:00pm. BINGO night at Snow King. Every Thursday from January 9 to March 27. At Hayden’s Post, inside Snow King Hotel.

5:30pm to 7:30pm. Hayden’s Post Après. Live Music and Ski Specials from December 27 to March 28. At Hayden’s Post, inside Snow King Hotel.

3:30pm – 6:30 pm. Pica’s Margarita Cup. Jackson's adult racing league in team scoring format with Pica's as the title sponsor!  Teams consist of up to 6 people (4 score points each race).  There are weekly raffle prizes, Pica’s Tacos & bar at every race. All proceeds benefit the JHSC Alpine Race Team. At Snow King Mountain.
 
February 21 to 22

All Day. Club Series #4, GS. The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard “Club Series” is a time to honored annual competition that features challenging courses and draws over 150 competitors of all ages, from throughout the region. At Snow King Mountain.
 
12:00pm to 3:00pm. Mary’s Nipple Challenge for Breast Cancer. See how many laps off the Dream Catcher chairlift they can complete in 3 hrs and the last valid lap must be started by 3 pm at the beginning of the boot pack. All funds raised will be donated to the St. John’s Medical Center Oncology Fund and earmarked for breast cancer patients. At Grand Targhee Resort. 
 
February 28 – March 1
 
March 1 to 2
10:00am to 4:00pm. Jackson Town Downhill: Mini Hahnenkamm. The heart to throbbing Mini to Hahnenkamm course on Snow King with divisions for Pro, Recreation, Telemark, Junior, Fat and Baggy and Snowboard. The event is the Club's way of recognizing that skiing  to  and ski racing  to  is truly a lifetime sport. Jackson Hole is one of the last places in the country to organize and support a non to sanctioned downhill race. This community favorite draws over 200 competitors and 500 spectators. At Snow King Mountain. 
 
March 7

7:30pm to 9:00pm Jackson Hole Moose Hockey vs. Washington Hockey Source.  The Jackson Hole Moose Hockey team is a nonprofit organization that competes in the Senior A Division of the U.S.A. Hockey Association. The competition level is full to check hockey with no holds barred action. All games feature live music from some of Jackson’s most talented local musicians as well as food, snacks and your favorite adult beverages. At Snow King Sports & Events Center.
 
March 8 to 10 
All Day. Jackson Hole Youth Hockey: Mite Tournament. At Snow King Sports and Events Center.
 
March 9
All Day. Club Series #5, Parents vs. Kids Dual SL. The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard “Club Series” is a time to honored annual competition that features challenging courses and draws over 150 competitors of all ages, from throughout the region. At Snow King Mountain.
 
All Day. Club Series #6, Flamingo Cup GS. The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard “Club Series” is a time to honored annual competition that features challenging courses and draws over 150 competitors of all ages, from throughout the region. At White Pine.
 
March 19
7:00 to 11:00pm The Met: Live Massenet's Werther. Jonas Kaufmann stars in the title role of Massenet's sublime adaptation of Goethe's revolutionary and tragic romance, opposite Sophie Koch as Charlotte. The new production is directed and designed by Richard Eyre and Rob Howell, the same team that created the Met's recent hit staging of Carmen. Rising young maestro Alain Altinoglu conducts. At the Center for the Arts. 
 
March 19 to 23
All Day. Western Region U16 Championships. Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club was founded in 1938 and is Jackson's oldest non to profit. Annually serving over 400 young athletes. At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
 
March 20
8:00pm. Martin Sexton. Critically acclaimed Sexton is a musician’s musician and prolific recording artist. His songs are intricate and spirited covering the American musical landscape distilling soul, gospel, R&B, country and blues. His performances are dynamic and bursting with depth and have earned him a devoted following among fans, peers and critics alike. People claim that Sexton?s songs inspire them to make a change, go cross to country, and follow their hearts; to see a crowd at a Martin Sexton concert is to witness a cross to section of America. At the Pink Garter Theater. 
 
March 20 – 23
39th Annual World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb. All events take place at Snow King Mountain, unless otherwise noted. All spectators are encouraged to ride the START Bus to avoid parking congestion. Free parking is available in the town parking garage. Buses will be marked with banners on each side.
Thursday, March 20 
•    8:00 to 9:00 am Registration for pre to registered SemiPro, Women's, RMSHA Juniors, Amateurs, Non to Pro Masters at the base of Snow King Mountain
•    9:00 am    Mandatory drivers meeting in the Pit Area
•    9:30 am    Racing begins  to  Non to Pro Masters, Amateurs, Semi to Pro, RMSHA Juniors, Women's
•    12:00 pm Sign up for Dash for Cash to  to first 40 Pro and Semi to Pro Riders only
•    2:00 pm    Pro Only Dash for Cash side by side $50.00 entry to  to winner takes half and Snow Devils take the other half to give to the charity of their choice. Winner will receive one free entry into the class of their choice at this year's event. Tentative to  to time and snow conditions permitting. 
•    6:00 to 9:00pm Mandatory Registration for all Pro Racers. At the Virginian Convention Center. 
Friday, March 21
•    7:15am    Mandatory drivers meeting in the Pit Area
•    8:00am    All Stock and Improved Stock Classes Qualifying All Semi to Pro Classes, Women's, Amateurs and Non to Pro Masters Finals All RMSHA Juniors will final to the first catwalk
Saturday, March 22
•    7:15am    Mandatory drivers meeting in the Pit Area
•    8:00am    All Mod Classes Qualifying
•    4:00pm    120 Shootout  to  $10 entry fee. Tentative.
•    7:00pm    Octane Addictions Freestyle Demo. At the Rodeo Arena at the Fairgrounds
Sunday, March 23 
•    7:15am    Mandatory drivers meeting in the Pit Area
•    8:00am    Finals and "King of the Mountain" runs
•    Awards Ceremony (Ceremony will begin approximately 60 to 90 minutes after finals and King Runs are completed at Snow King Mountain.) At the Virginian Lodge
 
March 29
7:00am to 2:00pm. Pole, Pedal, Paddle. a tradition in Jackson Hole, held this year on the 2nd to last Saturday of skiing at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The four to event race, where contestants compete either individually or in teams, consists of an alpine ski leg, a cross to country ski leg, a bicycle leg, and a boating leg. The Pole Pedal Paddle is a fundraising event for the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club, a non to profit organization dedicated to providing affordable Alpine, Freeride, Nordic and Snowboard programs to Jackson youth. Around the Area. 
 
April 6

April 11
7:00pm to 10:00pm The Met: Live Puccini's La Bohème. Puccini’s moving story of young love is the most performed opera in Met history—and with good reason. Anita Hartig stars as the frail Mimì in Franco Zeffirelli’s classic production, with Vittorio Grigolo as her passionate lover, Rodolfo. At the Center for the Arts. 
 
April 12
10:00am. 14th Annual Cardboard Box Derby. A closing weekend tradition, this spectator to friendly competition celebrates the results of tape, glue, paint and cardboard. Your cardboard vehicle may be simple or complex with up to 4 adult (or 6 under 18 yrs of age) pilots to maneuver down the ski hill. Remember the more creative your craft the better your chances for winning. At Grand Targhee Resort. 
 
April 20
All Day. Closing Day at Grand Targhee. Join us for the final day of operations on the mountain with musical guests playing you into the spring. Enjoy Dreamcatcher & Shoshone from 9am to 4pm with Apres at the Trap Bar & Grill. At Grand Targhee Resort.
